Is it because they think it is unfinished? I tune in to watch Grubby or Tod, and most of the time it’s the classic. Tournaments would likely remain on it

Because there are mostly new players that spend their time asking stuff on the forum or playing reforged. No challenge for the pros.
The new graphics are dreadful
because reforged is poorly optimized. random fps drops, stuttering, and the fact that people are being DC’ed without a moments notice. these are some of the reasons for not playing it, according to some streamers.
many people have also said that the unit readability in big fights is currently worse than classic.

Tbh I don’t have that feeling. It’s lik in SC2 when they made so many skins to be unreadable. The units have their roles, you can see an archer and a dryad, just in the beginning is a bit new. I will play more to see how it goes but maybe the FPS is true legit prob.
Like if you can do SC2 on ultra is War3 on high supposed to have such frame drop.
This was answered on lawliets stream a few weeks back. They don’t like it and he said it wouldn’t be used in tournaments in its current state because the gamers wouldn’t play it.

What they don’t like about it though? I can say the FPS feels weird and the terrain is strange but what else? Is it the models? It does look a bit different at first but once getting used, it may feel normal.
I do hope one doesnt want just same basic models with slightly bigger heads and same basics. I cant say what else is wrong.
There are other things missing in bnet but unless this gets to be the full release, i dont know what else is added and what will be missing for sure.
I’ve played very little but gameplay in 1v1 felt the same… except the lag and FPS… (currently bnet looks way flawed and weird, I cant say what exactly, maybe because it’s BETA).
Idk if readability prob is in a 6v6 game lol that would be a blast in lag and freeze… but im speaking of lower format games.
Typically pro players are about ‘we want to see the units clearly. the terrain’ They dont care about fancy model details and stuff. I too hope it doesn’t affect the direction of making things realistic and with the models they have now, because look what happened when they added clearer to see terrain. it’s green killing mah eyes. The pros want clean crisp gameplay. When there’s money on the line - they don’t want some tree but or unit size affecting their positions and cost them a match. I think that’s what they were worried about. Graphics and skins don’t mean crap to the pros
I played 40+ games. 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 and I can tell that the game feels pretty much the same. It takes 5 games to get used to it. The only issue I had was with color of the health bars - they don’t turn red when a unit is about to die. Fps is weird and hopefully they will fix it. Models are not that bad. Grubby said that he doesn’t play reforged because it’s hard for him to get matched against a high level player.
dont forget that even if the tournament’s players play on classic, the spectator can watch it with reforged graphics. back2warcraft have to show matches on reforged version. thats why blizzard did cross-generation graphics. the only thing will change in multyplayer matches are the skins we see in our screens and maybe some overlays
it’s a bit clunky and not as smoothe as the classic version. i made a video and also streamed proof of this. so it’s a little different…not sure if it’s interface lag or what but something is up with either the engine or the unit sizes.

whats your apm tho? its a lot different identifying units when your only at 100apm compared to 300apm… like somebody who has under 100apm isnt going to notice lag or frame rate drops as much as somebody with over 300apm
I think my apm is around 150. But grubby also said that the game feels the same for him.
thats why i buy the game for 3 things ,
1- chance for future expansions
2-play for story again but with new models
3- and most importantly dota map and you can also switch to old model according to dev interview , which is amazing
