Why did they give Infernals buck teeth?

I can’t expalin the teeth issue, not even sure what you are reffering to, but you can post links like this:
www.buckinfernaltetth.com (preformated text tool with an icon </> in a post UI)
Please consider doing this so we could get deeper into the issue, that would be very nice of you

Edit: i see now, lol

I took the liberty to provide a screenshot of what OP is referring to.

I don’t really think that’s buck teeth but I can see why OP doesn’t like it.

Here you have the inspiration for Reforged Infernal model:

I laughed at the image above. However, on topic - I didn’t really get the impression of that Infernal having buck teeth, instead it really looks like a crack on the front of his face to me.

It could be me just not being “ruined” by internet enough at this stage, tho.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the same Infernal design they used in the Legion cinematic? The one that crashes into Varian’s ship that he and Sylvanas fights.

It should be the same model, since that’s probably the reason why we were even able to get a cinematic for Reforged. They already had a high-res Infernal they could throw in for the last bit of the cinematic. Kinda like how Heroes of the Storm’s cinematic just used a bunch of cinematic heroes for characters they already had modelled, even if they weren’t the right design (like Female Diablo)

It’s pretty clear that the new design wants the head to be more skull-like, and it uses simplified shapes to do so. The eyes are beady, the head shape is very skull-like, and the ‘buck teeth’ is no more than just a sheet of rock with a crack in the side to indicate any ‘teeth’ there at all.

I would figure they want the look to be stylized as if it were formed out of rock but not entirely chiselled, just crudely formed for the purpose of war. It reads as a head, but unlike the original Infernal head which was a literal skull shape, this thing is rough and rock-like to indicate that they aren’t artisanly formed, they’re just fel-infused chunks of rock that are given some barely-humanoid shape.

You interpret it as buck teeth, but honestly it doesn’t have teeth at all. It’s just rock that is mimicing the shape of a skull.

Any more questions, Kantarion?

I don’t mind the collar. I mind the strong shoulders. The WC3 SD’s Infernal has very strong, prominent and green fingers/palms. But it’s still an alright design.

The WoW vanilla-WoD Infernal is just a bunch of round rocks. Whereas the WoW WoD+ Infernal has too little green flame. This cinematic one has enough flame, just like in WC3 and WoW Beta.

Both trash:

The WoW Beta model (a higher-poly WC3):

What I mean is an infernal doesn’t have true anatomy.

It’s a crudely made rock golem bound by fel magic.

The infernal we see here in the cinematic has crude ‘teeth’ and what seems like a lower jaw. But other infernals, like the one in Legion WoW, doesn’t have a lower jaw or teeth. It just has a rough skull head

So like you can say it has fingers but if you ask why they don’t have finger joints, then the answer is because they’re just animated rock meant to look like fingers. The Infernal doesn’t really eat or speak, and it doesn’t really have teeth either. It’s just rock that is crudely shaped into a skull, because skulls associated with danger and death.

If you don’t like that answer, then buck teeth are scary and the Legion likes to be scary.

Do you consider the WoW Legion ingame Infernals to have buck teeth? The ones I showed above?

The Legion Ingame Infernals look slightly different from the Legion Cinematics version. Also the Orc Grunt and Human Footmen in Reforged look different from the Cinematic versions. This should be the biggest indicator that the cinematics and the in-game looks are not the same, only representations.

So it’s doubtful that the design will be 1:1 to the cinematic version. However, the ‘buck teeth’ design in terms of a rock-like skull with jagged edges indicating teeth is here to stay. We just don’t know what the final product will look like.

I said Legion in-game Infernal, not cinematic

Do you consider this as having ‘Buck Teeth’. If not, then I would say this may be closer to the Reforged in-game model.

It’s hard to say though, since we see things like Orc Grunt looking like the MoP cinematic grunt, or Arthas looking like a pretty lady even though he is based on Hearthstone concept art.

Even Dreadlord looks way different from WoW Mal’ganis, and he is missing the WoW style sideburns/mutton chops.

And I hope they base it on the cinematic model because it has more fire. The Legion in-game model has literally black fingers instead of hot demonic felgreen! I wouldn’t be as fearful about the teeth also because they might give it 10 variations (or are those exclusive to hero models?).

The design in Legion when it comes to Infernals was awesome. And yeah, it’s evident that it doesn’t have any buck teeth in game as provided on the picture above.

If I recall correctly, there was one huge Infernal close to a “boss fight” in Demon Hunter starting zone, and that’s where this model update really started to shine. It gave them bulky look, and even scaled to that point it looked scary as hell.
