Where is gone my old Warcraft 3 ?!

I did not pay for this “reforged” but when I launched Battlenet it started to download W3:R … I didn’t realise it was deleting my old loved W3 untill it was too late !

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU FORCE DOWNLOAD A GAME TO PEOPLE !

I just want to play to my old Warcraft 3, without all the online crap …
I cannot even launch a classic skirmish against AI, it crashed every time I tried.

Give me back what I paid for; Warcraft 3 : Reign of Chaos and Frozen Thrones !

i think they may have fixed that with this patch You can sign up for something i guess that gets you the old one back.

If you have the disc can’t you install it and download an earlier patch?

Navigate to https://battle.net/account/ download / Scroll down to Classic Games. Download the Warcraft III : Reign of Chaos or Warcraft III : The Frozen Throne (they are the same installer) Run the installer.

The installer open Battle net app, so there is no way to install through that method the old client.

yeah you can’t complete the install without connecting to battle net, i don’t think you can even launch the game with out connecting to battle net anymore

I wish they kept both versions. I would play Reforged for campaigns and Classic for mods.

I can still play the old client because I didn’t go to battle net (multiplayer) through the old client when reforged released so it doesn’t get “updated” to reforged. Just have to avoid the battle net in the wc3 client.

I’m on 1.29 since a long time ago, haven’t been online. I know that folks avoid Reforged like cancer… so I’ve got this question:
If I went into BN through the game would it force the Reforged shiit upon me although I haven’t bought it? Also if I don’t do that does it mean byebye BN?

If you have the CD, you can indeed install an older version. You can either:

  • Find a patch of desired version and avoid going to BNET. (Use LAN for multiplayer - Garena, Game Ranger, Wc3:Unforged)

  • Find an installed-game folder of the desired version online. Plenty of them to go around. And you can use purchased keys to activate. Same thing applies to multiplayer.

Note: though if you have a physical CD, and did not purchase the game online, your CD keys might not work, thus only first option works
Note: don’t worry about patch downloads. They are virus-free. Mostly.

At least a 1.26 clicking Battlenet says it’s downloading an update, restarts the game and doesn’t actually update anything.

The old Battlenet is gone, so you have to use an alternative.

By forcing everyone onto the new version, having bought reforged or not, forces people onto the new ToS, which gives blizzard ownership of all custom content created. They feel they got burned with DOTA and they want to prevent that happening again.

Methods:

  1. Reinstall from your CD. It will be the vanilla game, it is uncensored, you cannot play online via Battlenet, but you can play campaign, custom games offline, custom campaigns, and via LAN just fine.
  2. Reinstall from your CD, download a patch for version 1.27b (this is the version right before it made the jump to the Reforged launcher) and download an external program like WC3 Connect. This will allow you to do all mentioned in method 1, but also allow you to play games online via LAN and the WC3 Connect client.
  3. (Don’t know if this method still works, or if it has been patched), download the Public Test Realm version of Warcraft 3 from Battlenet. Its the version right before Reforged was launched. Its uncensored, and Battlenet still works.

You’ll need your CD key for all methods.

So the classic warcraft 3 is completely gone?? They haven’t even finished reforged with the frozen throne update but now we get an incomplete story that they changed to fit their dumbass wow game.
