I paid the $30 after reveal, with the original presentation looking promising.
That was before the year of silence.
That was before all the scrapped content.
That was before the embarrassingly broken Beta, literally days before launch.
If you think its supposed to be something special, its not, and if you already own the game dont waste money on that, all its going to do is bring back the game for a while.
If you have spare money you dont care about burning and want small little tweaks, like better graphics or maybe some UI improvements, then go you can buy it.
If you dont own it, its just better looking 20 years old game, if you never played it definitely buy it and play the hell out of it, its just the same awesome game but slightly polished …
I am disappointed that it will be probably just another 40$ Vamos Bonfire, but I wasnt able to bind my old warcraft to my new bnet account, so I was going to buy the game anyway, and when I finally decided to do it, they suddenly announced warcraft reforged … so I dont really care, just buying warcraft …
You pay the salaries of the devs that spend an year trying to revive the game. I’m very happy with the new battle net. The old one was a crappy piece of ****. Graphics are fine. Play more games and get used to them. I have no issues distinguishing the units after 10 games.
It’s incredibly naive to think what you’re paying is going to be directly allocated to the devs. Nah, more like a small portion, then the rest to the CEO and investors.
They are actually remaking the game, while staying close to the original, even enabling share-play, modernizing it, adding cosmetics, new models and terrains, remastering the sounds and the soundtracks, adding it to the launcher … all this for a 17-year old game which used to be available for 20 € in the stores.
Everyone who expected more than a remaster right from the announcement was totally on the wrong track.
His sentiment was more along the lines of supporting the game and the developers, pretty sure everybody knows when you buy from a business the money doesn’t go straight to the laborers pockets.
“You know, 15 years ago, the way we built our missions and the things, the way we’ve designed… Since then, we’ve done a couple of RTS’s and we’ve learned a lot of different things, we have a lot of lessons we can apply, coming back to Warcraft 3 Reforged, and one of the goals, we touched upon, was the Culling, was one of the things we wanted to do with our campaign, was we wanted to level it up to what people know from the World of Warcraft, so we kind of look at Warcraft 3 as one of the origin stories of World of Warcraft … We see some areas we need to level up, we want the locations you remember or know from WoW to kind of match what you see in Reforged, and we want to go through some of the stories and tie the two franchises together in a tighter way.”
That’s weird, actually, because I just read that statement and watched that video again and I realized he said, “This is just a coat of paint, we’re leaving everything exactly as before - make sure none of you get any impressions that we’re doing anything different, especially after watching that Culling trailer!”
Not only are some of your major points straight out wrong (Like the No major changes to the campaign when it’s been confirmed that at least 8 campaign maps have gotten a complete overhaul, new music, new models that reflect the current lore more. Draenei is a great example of this).
yet, you’re also complaining that a game is priced at 30 bucks. Look pal, you get RoC + FT and reforged if you buy that 30 bucks game. Before all the last minute changes to what they’re gonna do to the campaign, remember. It was still priced for 30 bucks for a game that could have EASILY been 60 bucks with all the promised changes. Consider yourself lucky that Blizzard atleast had the decency to sell you this for 30 in the first place and not 60.
He also said, that they “got to REMASTER” the game and a remaster usually is: slightly polished sounds and graphics". we’re getting the slightly polished sounds, REMADE models and terrains and a new online platform + some cosmetic stuff.
The changes you mentioned made Reforged a hybrid - not a remaster, not yet a remake. Would have paid full price for that. Now we still get a remaster which is not a simple remaster like Starcraft.
Still, Reforged is supposed to be a REMASTER! Everything which makes it closer to a remake would just be the cherry on the pie.
What we get with this “reforged” is in essence new models patch. Something they should have released for free as promotional materials. It’s a complete scam and deceptive marketing. Also it’s the 12th of December and the beta is unplayable mess. There’s ZERO chance this can be fixed, rebuilt, tested, approved for release and distributed till the end of the month unless it’s released completely broken.
Even the most deranged shills should start seeing this is nothing more than a third party reskin. Seriously, Blizzard didn’t even do the graphics!
No new sound, music*, or voice acting (*might be new, might be remastered?)
No altered/polished lore, no new units, etc
No UI changes; the one seen at Blizzcon was scrapped/pushed back
literally every single one of those claims are false. or have misinformation in them.
No major campaign changes coming: wrong, not to the extend that it was initially intended but they are still there.
No new sound, music*, or voice acting: oh and i guess the female hero variants were voiced by my mother and many more new voices, and not to mention non english dubs are being redone and more voice is created because they’re adding support for new languages, and all existing music is getting updated.
No altered/polished lore, no new units: Wrong again, if anything this is exactly what we are getting, and the extreme case of it being the major ones you mentioned are the ones the moved back from.
No UI changes: well the UI is literally changed, and its been over 6 months and with RF its only going to get better, that custom map authors will be able to greatly alter the UI to their choosing.
To be fair, you should actually do a refund cuz i don’t really want to see you here anymore. a person that posts a thread with this level of misinformation doesn’t deserves wc3 classic in the first place let alone Reforged. pack it up with ur 25 buddies or alt accounts, and leave instead of storming the threads.
That’s exactly what I said. No major changes. You LITERALLY just said “not to the extend that it was initially intended”. Yes. No major changes. Okay, so I’m right.
Two new voices. Two. Literally out of thousands of units.
Also, localization may be new, but the dialogue is still the same. Nobody who plays English will play the other localizations anyways, so how does that even count? And there are no new sounds, old sound effects are still in. So it’s not even a full remastering.
Sure it was never promised. But I never said it was. Just that it isn’t a feature. You know, like most other Remasters do.
Such as? Anasterian? Is he even going to be used? That model likely was put in early on before they scrapped the content, unless he’s in some “lost” content. So we’ll see if he gets used or not. Are there others?
The UI seen at Blizzcon '18 was scrapped, and modular forms of it are “coming down the road”. So, in a patch. Hopefully. Cool. Why was it scrapped?
That’s exactly why I’m staying. To laugh at you.
There was not one thing I posted that was misinformation.
