Weather Effects thoughts?

Changed topic

What are your thoughts on more dynamic weather and shaders?

Im talking coded ones not World Editor made ones.

Like “heat blur” or “frozen UI” from cold or moving sands etc.

well, the original question wasn’t that pointless tbh

Well I was playing campaign for all my life.

Honestly playing it again HD would be boring maybe cool for 1 run but then dead.

If remastered/retconned whatever if would give meaning for more replays.

Plus most people focus on ladder not campaign so they shouldnt be taken account for because they just want HD game.

When devs already say its bigger than a remaster.

yeah, as much as i love the original story that would be pretty boring to replay exactly the same story but in hd. especially considering that i don’t give a sh!t about ladder.

Im just pumped to see what changes they are going to make.

I mean the new stratholme map was the same map/objective but better layout in my opinion.

Less space faster game more challenge.

Cant wait to see Mount Hyjal and many other iconic missions.

and i think as long as the retcons aren’t too heavy they can’t be that bad

Yeah im in favour of changes like with the “Culling” map

Otherwise dont touch the campaign.

But there a one or two missions that need a small rework like the “Arthas Vs Fel Orcs”.

For no reason they have dragons and fel orcs everywhere in the Alterac mountains.

and about weather effects, that would be a really nice addition

I thought you said you got the game like 2-3 years ago, you told me you were trying to finish the RoC campaign but were stuck on an early night elf level

I found wc3 in 2010.

For the next 3 years (was a child) didnt even know Frozen Throne existed.

Ive completed all missions, (some cheats). Just that in my recent replay of tht “mission” I couldnt complete it properly on hard.

before asking for new sh1t, can the old engine even handle it?
we all know, the engine suffers lag and stuff when too much sh1t on the screen.
asking for new stuff is just wanting to get a game with more lag and possibly more desync and other stuff going wrong.

Remember that they are expanding the Warcraft 3 engine, I do not know if you know it but it has a lot of potential yet, Wolrd of Warcraft was created based on it, so what you say is absurd.

Add environmental effects would improve greatly as one feels the game, is one of the things I hope they will improve.

I personally don’t think that they need to change much of the campaign at all. If you want a new Campaign, go ask them for Wc4, or additional campaigns to be added. The nitty gritty like the layouts of cities I could care less about, but when changes effect the feel of a mission or particular moment, then I start to care quite a bit. A good example is Arthas not standing on his hill as he looks down at Jaina and Uther in the new Culling, which was a big no-no to me as it took away a lot of the symbolism of the moment to me. The new Stratholme layout itself was pretty cool to see though.

Back to the OP though, I think weather effects could be really cool! I always wished there was like, snow blowing or something for Northerend missions, and other small screen effects for various other areas where it makes sense. Something more than just the UI borders for each race.

Yes. Sure, it is an old engine, but it can be improved a lot. People clearly don’t know how game engines work; parts of it can be improved a lot and many of the current features of the engine were intentionally limited due to the lower power of the hardware - we don’t have those kind of problems with the hardware anymore, so many things on the software side can be updated and restrictions lifted.

And like was pointed out: World of Warcraft uses basically the same engine, and it can handle a big world map with thousands of players easily, so there’s still a long way to go.

Warcraft III: Reforged is the remaster of Warcraft III that was announced at BlizzCon 2018. It will overhaul both Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne and will come 2019, supporting graphics up to 4k and featuring a revamped UI.
The game is developed by the same team that did StarCraft: Remastered.[1] It utilizes an upgraded version of the original game engine, in order to preserve mod functionality from the original game.[2] Its graphics engine however was completely overhauled.

Reforged can probably do more gratuitous things and get away with it because of this. Blizzard games are also really accessible and generous when it comes to system requirements, so really all kinds of rigs can run their games. I don’t think Reforged being all shiny and smattered with graphical improvements and playing with stuff in the new visual engine will be that big of a worry. Unless somehow you’re still on your old 2003 computer.

And if you want the old one, you can play classic Warcraft 3. Maybe some people want the Reforged campaign.

Yeah, the Warcraft 3 Reforged Campaign.

Both will exist, I don’t know what you’re trying to communicate there.

I agree about the hill part.

It was symbolism of Arthas power and his arrogancy. Ah now we have the queerish finger point.
