WC3 Reforged clearly shows Form follows Fucntion

This game pretty much shows what happens one concentrates on aesthetics and making things pretty over a functional design. The unit models are top notch quality, but they are made for cameras with closer views like a third person game like WOW.

In aerial views, what people want is recognition and especially when it comes to RTS where quick decision making is required based on Recognition. WC3 Reforged caters to Recall over Recognition thus breaks entire foundation of design principles.

Users should never be asked to recall things when they want to complete a particular task and some may say with habituation things get easier, but then why even design in the first place?

There was an existing functional and efficient system already, then why break that?

The older models are crap in aesthetics but they have a personality and at the same time extremely functional. Aesthetics only lasts for few days then people as they use the system they want to get things done and accomplish tasks faster.

This is evident when new players does not even turn on HP bars but later they are visible all over, this is the case with any system people go for the path of least resistance and most energy efficient method.

Blizzard does not have any basic understanding of Information foraging in human beings and this pretty much shows the quality of their new products also.

Extremely short lived and not at all sustainable, unless they cannot do some gimmick or cause user to distract for a while like Skins or some rift.

Anyways Models are amazing but they are not functional and thank Azeroth we can still use older models. Well hope Blizzard learned its lesson from this project and future projects will do more user research and make products for customer base than building things on personal biases.
