This is a warning to people working with editor that haven’t tried Warcraft III 1.31 PTR World Editor
I just tried to see the LUA feature and then move to World Editor 1.30.4
Maps works on 1.30.4 but when you try the new features in 1.31 such as the new JassHelper and LUA script option in Scenario>Script you cannot continue to work on the default one, because once you save the map it will give you a syntax errors all the time.
I don’t know what causing this either switch to LUA script or new feature JassHelper on the Menu.
This is a bad sign that the old maps will break in 1.31 unless editor is fixed.
Solution: First Unistall the Game from Control Panel. Then Press Windows Key + R. In the search box type regedit and click enter. Click yes and open Registry Editor. Then navigate and find the folders that are bellow and then delete them.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\WorldEdit
Then reinstall the game and your maps can be saved and working once again.
To make it absolutely clear. The 1.31 PTR is not intended to be used to develop maps. It is entirely for testing. Maps made with the 1.31 PTR will not be able to be loaded in 1.30.4 and might not be able to be loaded in 1.31 release.

Yes but the problem is that if you try the new editor and you close it and then open world edit 1.30.4 you have syntax errors on the previous maps that you’re working on. That’s a big problem. And I had to do clean unistall and then reinstall to make it work.
Default editor at patch 1.30.4 should work but maybe when you opened new editor 1.31 a specific registry is being added inside world edit registry and then it make old maps impossible to save even if you not use 1.31 World Editor
Does that means 1.31 makes old maps non playable. If yes I really hope they fix it soon else the custom games will be doomed and players will be forced to play only melee maps
Of course not. It just means that you’re not meant to develop your map further in PTR. PTR is just a testing platform: you can try to open maps in the PTR build and try out the new features and plan what you will do once the new patch is released. PTR is Public Test Realm, the patch is not yet released.
And it is very common that when a new patch brings in a lot of features, if you update your map to that build, you might not be able to open it anymore with an older World Editor. Just like you can’t open current maps with version 1.0 World Editor. That’s normal and that’s why people always should use the latest version of the game (when they are released, not PTR).
