Warcraft is inspired by which novel?

I have a question that which game of Warcraft is inspired by which novel? I have read it somewhere but do not remember the exact source of the document or information available. Search is now also just a novel about warcraft universe without information about problems before there is warcraft. Do you know, please answer or give me documents to find out. Thanks a lot !

Warcraft was developed as a videogame first and foremost.

If there is any influence it’s based on, that would be Warhammer Fantasy Battle tabletop miniatures game by Games Workshop.

If you are talking about general fantasy influences, then there’s Lord of the Rings, Elric of Melnibone, Conan the Barbarian, the list goes on. Warcraft pulls from many sources, including Marvel Superheroes and Star Trek.

warcraft is heavily influenced by Tolkien lore. They expanded on it obviously. (if that answers your question as to what novel(s) inspired warcraft in the first place. It’s no secret that Metzen, who is also an incredible author was a big fan of Tolkien’s work, and he’s said it many times before.

many the art stule is very close to Warhammer and i belive Warhammer was inspired bay books like Lotr …
the Lich king concept was very close to Song of Ice and Fire “Game of Thrones” Novels the Night King and the final mission in TFT undead Campaign name " A Symphony of Frost and Flame "
and Arthas story was inspired bay was Arthur but in Blizzard version he turn Villan after taking the sword
and maybe many other things

Warcraft was a videogame before any novels had been written. So play the campaign through, pre order it now and play the og campaign before reforged comes out, then try the re-made campaign.

So long as Blizzard doesn’t go hog wild with old gods and sh!t in Reforged, I think I’ll be happy.
