Hello
i have played warcraft 3 as a child and was totally in love with it
especially the campaigns and the extremely creative custom maps have made playing warcraft 3 magical it was as if i was in a different world every time i played this game
there were so many different custom maps… probably many tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands world wide
please do warcraft4, and if you make something like custom maps products that are on sale, that would make the game very profitable. I mean not all the custom maps on warcraft 4 should be for free, maybe the authors can earn money by selling their works on battlenet? and blizzard maybe keeps 30percent of the fee as royalty fee
please consider this!
also please dont make warcraft 4’s story based on world of warcraft
i stopped playing that game after they added pandas
it would be great to see the lich king descend from his throne to challenge all mortal races from the point of view of where warcraft3 left off
i want a new story!
thank you for your time
they continued the story in world of warcraft
the original team who made warcraft doesnt exist anymore, anything we will get from blizzard wont be the same anymore
the new team would say we trash the source and make our own story and noone gona like it who played warcraft 3 before, thats what would most likely happen if we ever get a warcraft 4
hello thanks for your post! its so sad to hear it but hopefully your comment and my post will change their mind!
It’s pretty unlikely they’ll ever make a warcraft 4 because of WoW. The failiure of Warcraft Rumble probably isn’t helping either. But I’m sure everyone here would love to start fresh with a brand new, real RTS game in the series.
WarCraft is a Multiverse, so creating a WarCraft 4 timeline isn’t out of the question.
The question is whether Blizzard will ever decide it is worth it for them to make another RTS.
RTS is kind of a dying genre outside of the subgenre of mobas and classic remasters, to be honest. Even the most basic ones require more skill and brain power than is required for many other genres so average players often struggle with them. In essence, it is a very hardcore genre.
RTS isn’t a dying genre EA killed command and conquer and blizzard forgot why people enjoyed their RTS games. SC2’s most popular multiplayer mode is COOP where you play as your favorite character’s army. I also think the overly cinematic nature of SC2 hurt the story. You not only had to wait so long to get the full story but to also play the other race’s campaigns.
If Warcraft 4 was announced as continuation of where WC3 left off and had 4 campaigns minimum with one being a scourge campaign. The game would probably fly off shelves. People would be excited to be able to play as the Lich King.
Almost Every RTS game I’ve seen come out recently is either a remaster/re-release. There was that one RTS made by some of the people who worked on Warcraft and from what I heard, that didn’t go very well. Most other RTS games are in the MOBA sub-genre. Just recently we had Stronghold: Crusader which just got re-released for the second time as “Definitive Edition” (There was an HD version several years back), and before that there were re-releases of AoE and I think AoM had a re-release. New true RTS base building games are few and far between.
Stormgate? I heard It’s campaign was embarrassingly bad and multiplayer unfinished.
Yeah a lot of RTS that i happen to glance at over the years were simplified ones. It seems developers think base building gets in the way of the fun rather than being part of it. I saw Grubby playing Tempest Rising it looked decent but I haven’t tried it out myself.
Well the reason for the Stormgate campaign being bad is cuz the game is in early access.
Plus they recently revamped it. Haven’t tested it myself but sufficeth to say a single glance can’t really be used to judge books. Especially if the book is changed way after you first read it.
I can say that Tempest Rising is great though. Feels like a proper Command & Conquer game after a huge drought. Personally I was always more of a Generals/Zero Hour kind of guy but still, I can appreciate the work put into it.
I also tried out ZeroSpace which is trying to basically combine Starcraft with Mass Effect’s style of storytelling. The beta was interesting enough, but obviously rough around the edges. The alien designs were cool though.
I would also love new campaigns to feel that excitement again which is missing in new Blizzard games. For me Starcraft Brood War is the best story, voice acting, dialogue they made in their career.
World of Warcraft is too big of a cash cow. Besides subscription there are paid expansions, mounts, pets, wow tokens, various character transfer features, level boosts even added to Classic. They milking it until it’s dry and they’re really desperate.
I’m surprised Warcraft 3 is getting updates at all. At least some caring devs still out there.
Mid mission cutscene in Warcraft 4:
Thrall Stand-in Character: “Tyrande, we’re being overrun. Reinforcements won’t make it in time! We’re not going to make it!”
dramatic camera rotation
Tyrande: “Yes we will. Believe in yourself.”
mission timer: 30:00
Wow i have not checked this post for a while and theres so much discussion!!! i love this thanks everyone!!!
Warcraft 3 is still making money. The second it doesnt you can expect no more updates or communications from the devs.
