Warcraft 3 Reforged Patch 2.0.0 does not work on Windows 7

So the friend list thing is not a Windows 7 specific issue apparently

Same problem for me aswell. Really hope they fix this soon, only been playing for a month after many years.

I received this answer from tech support. However, I am unsure which specific windows 7 updates are critical and updated drivers are needed. Perhaps someone knows?

Your ticket has received the following response:

Iā€™ve reviewed this request regarding your Warcraft Reforged not running on your PC.

First let me tell you I bring great news since Windows 7 is still compatible for Warcraft Reforged! For any incompatibility please try the following Troubleshooting steps.

āœ§ Update your drivers and operating system to resolve any compatibility issues.
āœ§ Update or temporarily uninstall any security programs, which may mistakenly identify the login module as a security threat.
āœ§ Delete the Battle.net Tools folder to automatically rebuild outdated or corrupt files.
āœ§ Run the repair tool to repair any damaged game files.
āœ§ Close all other applications to resolve software conflicts and free up resources.

Try adjusting Windows exploit protection:

  1. In windows search bar type Exploit Protection, open it
  2. Click Program settings
  3. Add program to customize
  4. Select warcraftIII.exe in the folder retail/x86_64 folder. (not the warcraft III launcher.exe)
  5. Edit and select ā€œoverride system settingsā€ for Control flow guard (CFG) and next turn it off (it is 6th category on the list, so you may need to scroll down to it).

In the case this does not work Iā€™d advise you to check the Tech Forum on our forums

Hope this research clear the doubt you were having regarding this case. I will watch over your gaming experience and hope you continue to enjoy your adventures as much as we enjoy designing them for you!

Let me guess, none of these things fixed the crashes

Thatā€™s an auto generated response, none of that is relevant to W7.
Funniest bit is definitely the part where it says:
ā€œGreat news, Windows 7 is still compatible!ā€
ā€œTry updating your OSā€ LMAO

Thatā€™s standard troubleshooting, Helskrim. And technically, Win7 is still supported, so as long as that doesnā€™t change, nothing about any of that is funny.

But the issue is not on userā€™s end in this case so thereā€™s nothing to troubleshoot. Itā€™s funny because it mentions this exploit protection that is unavailable on W7.
Btw, you sound just like CaptainJack, nothing you guys write makes any sense and its absolutely irrelevant to the topic, why do you do this?

For the Win7 problem, it very well could be. Thus, the troubleshooting to help elucidate where the issue lies.

As for the response itself, you have a point. Even the link provided is for WoW, not WC3. thatā€™s a whole separate issue that has been getting worse recently: replies that donā€™t have much, it anything, to do with the issue described in the ticket. Iā€™m 100% with you there.

What? Captain and I have very different posting styles. For example, Iā€™ve been promoting the fact that Win7 is supported by Bliz. And you may notice that many of Captainā€™s posts about MS support are removed. So, no, we are not similar.

You seem to lumping us together simply because you simply donā€™t like what youā€™re being told. My response to you was a relevant reply to your post. Either that, or you simply donā€™t understand the underpinnings of what your talking about, so any education on the matter doesnā€™t make sense to you either.

I have the same problem and OS. I would look around in the error files for a fix or some idea as to what is happening but there are none. Only this error popup with a report ID.

Anyone figured this out? Still can not play the game :frowning:

I am going to respond to Blizzard to ask for a debug mode. Perhaps, in debug mode, the software can identify whether it is OS, Video Card or Firewall issue.

Also, I checked this on Windows 11 and got the same result. It seems that itā€™s something wrong with our accounts.

A reply from a Blizz mod would be nice. It seems after Mac users, Windows 7 users cannot play the game either. Days after launch.

I received the following response:

<<Iā€™ve taken a look into this and we have some troubleshooting steps for players in these situations. Please try all the steps listed in the following article:

Warcraft III: Reforged Crashes

Common Problems

* Warcraft III: Reforged freezes

  • Warcraft III: Reforged crashes

If your game crashes follow the steps below.

  1. If your computer rebooted or displayed a blue screen visit our Blue Screen Crashes article.

  2. Make sure your computer meets the Warcraft III System Requirements.

  3. Update your drivers to resolve any compatibility issues.

  4. Try closing background applications to resolve any software conflicts.

///////////

-I closed all background applications and made exceptions in firewalls - no effect
-I updated graphics card driver - no effect
-I went through optional OS updates but nothing seems functionally necessary

Let me know if someone finds a workaround. It would be nice to know the OS related changes made in patch 2.0 (ex: implemented microsoft security protocol xyz for new UI)

Can an option be implemented in the start button to remove UI and graphical enhancements?

I must say that the World Editor crashes immediately as well, right after clicking the ā€œLaunch Editorā€ button.

Bump 1. Because I bought W3 Reforged from Europe and I am from Europe, should I create the same topic on Europe Blizzard Forum? I want to play the game again and Blizzard just donā€™t care about our problem?
