Has blizzard made any information available on what features the original Wc3 game clients will have?
Will it be like starcraft remastered where I will have all the new ladder features but no updated visuals?
Im currently travelling overseas and my Laptop can easily handle wc3 but not remastered comfortably. I would love to be able to play on the old client until im back home but I don’t see any information on this.
Its simple logic. Current classic is version 1.31 and reforged beta is 1.32. This means that the next major patch is reforged as Pete already said in one of his patch notes. Also no developer will support a legacy second client. They will add the sd graphics to reforged client as an option and people who haven’t purchased it will not be able to play with hd graphics.
why did they spend so much time and effort fixing and patching the current client if they were going to /delete it after reforged released. That simple logic doesn’t make a lot of sense to me.
Also wasn’t the original SC client updated and supported when SC:R released, and not removed?
To quote your source ¨ The team did their damnedest to get Arranged Teams working within the legacy system¨
This is the kind of quote I was looking for. they are in the process of connecting everything to the legacy system, but its not ready yet.
They first patched the old game with some changes (ex. widescreen support, LUA scripting, support for high-poly models), and then further patches were made to the reforged client.
Grubby confirmed this as well. When it goes live - the old bnet and the old UI is gone. Remember, besides the building the models from the ground up (which was the biggest part of this project), they made improvements to the editor, the engine, and will be applying it all to the base game.
That way, if they release a balance patch that scales a Knight down by .1 cm - they won’t have to patch two games. It’s the same game, and everyone will see the same thing. You just won’t have access to the Collection tab, the Reforged Campaigns, or anything Reforge-specific.
