Warcraft 3 Classic not starting anymore after reforge update

My PC: Win 10 RX580, Ryzen 5 1400, newest drivers

Problem: I do no have reforged. However I was forced to update wc3 through the battle-net client (which I think is normal). Starting WC3 through the battle-net launcher leads to the error message “Beim Bearbeiten der Anfrage ist ein Fehler aufgetreten”. Which is german for “There was an error processing your inquiry”.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Have Classic WC3
  2. update to newest version (…as being forced to)
  3. start WC3 through the battle-net client
  4. wait for the error message to appear

What I tried so far:

  1. reinstalling the classic wc3-tft through this link Downloads – Blizzard Entertainment
  2. starting wc3 tft without the battle.net client. Which does not appear to be possible to me.

I didn’t even buy reforged and I’m already having problems with it.
Is there anyone else having this problem, or does know a solution?

Cheers, D.

Regards, I have exactly the same problem. It’s a shame, we can’t play warcraft. I have accounts with 5,000 games and now they won’t let me play …

I demand a solution …

I have the same problem. I play only on classic. The translation of your error message corresponds to the message I get of ‘there was an error handling the request’
A megathread was locked by admin without being solved. I have created a continuation of this thread also. How many people have this issue before blizzard tells us the fix?

WORKAROUND:
I only had the TFT Key registered to my b-net client. For me it started to work as soon as I also provided the WC3: ROC Key to the battle-net launcher.

Steps:

  1. open bnet launcher
  2. Click on your account symbol in the upper right
  3. redeem code (or something similar, its “Code einlösen” in german)
  4. Add your WC3: ROC key
  5. Start game

This is an acceptable solution for me, but not for many others who only have a TFT Key.

I had everything already set up, with account-key association.
I have started to get this error AFTER I got refunded.
It’s a shame… seriously.

I have the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled the program with no positive results. Wish there was a solution. Having serious doubts about Blizzard and their Wizards in resolving these problems.

Make sure both RoC and TFT keys are attached to your BattleNet account. Apparently it does validate these even if no useful error gets generated when it fails.

Quite probable it only uses the RoC key. They started to do this a few patches ago.

You can try raising the issue with support. They might be able to fix it so that your classic keys start working again. Assuming they are still attached to the account.

Otherwise this is just a result of getting a refund.

I’m waiting for the reply… but I guess that the refund messed up my account.
I already imagine the support passing the refund request and some random accountant promoted to datacenter administrator, led by the same manager who self designed the new battlenet interface, clicking on “delete account”.
The problem is I’m currently more than 2k km away from my keys^^
Otherwise I would have simply try to associate them again.

Will not work. Once associated to an account, they cannot be associated again, even to the same account.

thx mate !!!

Still having the same issue! None of the mentioned fixes work. Neither re-installing, nor making sure ROC-Key is attached. Contacting support is a nightmare. Any news to this?

Is the error you see “There was an error handling the request”?

If so, to confirm, do you see the RoC game key displayed on the Games & Subscriptions page, down under Classic Games like in the pic below?

If it is there, are you using the same Battlenet account to log into the website and launcher.
