Will Microsoft create Warcraft 2 Reforged? We know from Age of Empires 2 and from Diablo 2 that making a 3d version of a previously 2d game can be fun and sell new copies.
Warcraft 2 Reforged could be made by hiring the same artists who made the Warcraft 3 Reforged art and having them produce content to use on an upres’ed, 3d version of Warcraft 2 that switched from 2d to 3d during gameplay like how Diablo 2 Resurrected works.

Main problem is that even Age of Empires 1 was a technical and mechanical masterpiece compared with Warcraft 2. Even the more advanced StarCraft feels so clunky compared with them.
Of course they could be remade to be high grade modern RTS games. But you might as well make Warcraft IV then and include their stories as DLC chapters to it.
yea, it plays like a brick. if it gets a remake, they need to change ALOT about the gameplay. it has nice nostalgics, but quite honestly its a quite terrible game to play.
i think its a good idea to remake a rough estimate of the units and missions in a newer game. its really not worth to remake the old game 1:1 - theres not much fun in it.
At this stage you might as well just make Warcraft IV and then throw a DLC out for campaigns inspired by Warcraft II and updated to match modern lore. No need to even hide it as a remake.
warcraft 2 was a good game for its time. it was the first pc game i purchased. the second was possibly diablo, followed by starcraft. i do play warcraft 2 some times.
Besides, until this transfer of power is complete and we see what results it has, I wouldn’t want ANYONE to touch the classic games. Especially in this damnable “woke” environment.
None of you even know what that word really means, just appropriating a common word to mean whatever the hell y’all want. It’s just how “organic” 's meaning has been twisted entirely from what it originally meant. But you know, you really shouldn’t be bringing that stuff in here anyway.
On the topic in hand, War2 was one of the ifrst PC games I really fell in love with and it clearly doesn’t get enough respect. Sure it doesn’t have the depth of some of the other RTS of its era but I still consider it a classic.
It’s already been remade once though with war2 BNE. Not sure if you can even still play it though, battle.net doesn’t accept keys for it and you cant download it from them.
facepalm. a game does not need to be remade to run in windows. they only need to create a new windows executable. dungeon keeper and heroes of might and magic 2 had both dos and windows versions running on the same assets. all blizzard did was add the new enhanced mode to multiplayer to allow it to connect to battle.net.
that would be interesting, though warcraft 1 ran in a very low resolution. warcraft 2 would be easier to remaster. i would however prefer that they fix warcraft 3 reforged first and add in the planned features.
Maybe that works too, i just like the idea of remastering those old titles that’s all, Age1 and 2 style, i have no care how much DSG wants to say its bad compared to how age was technically made.
and i dont doubt it works fine on GoG, wc1 and 2 i mean. just that a remaster would be banger. by Microsoft of course.
I’m amazed people are still replying to this thread. Having barely played any Warcraft 2 myself, I created this thread as a parody of the Warcraft 4 thread because I find it to be ridiculous to think that Microsoft would make Warcraft 4. I am incredibly doubtful Microsoft will touch this franchise with a 10 ft pole.
If the moderators decide to delete this entire thread, that’s OK. I understand. It would also draw attention to the other guy’s Warcraft 4 thread, which was presumably serious…
