WarCraft 2 Maps in WarCraft 3?

Has anyone recreated the wc2 maps in wc3?

I want to make it but too busy.

Some maps look so nice. Base across water and snow.

That’s be a cool thing for Blizz to add in Reforged!

Are you talking Campaign maps, or PVP maps?

Either way I don’t think they translate well without heavy modification. You need to add shops, creeps and make sure there are ample paths and chokepoints to dictate the flow of combat; stuff that wasn’t really an issue in WC2 because it was all about massing unts in an open field and overwhelming with numbers.

WC2 map design is kind of bland in that way, where it’s mostly open space and you had like 20 peons mining one goldmine.

-Edit- Oh, you meant Tilesets. I’d love to see Reforged versions of these. I’m sure this will happen down the line, someone’s sure to add a texture pack for custom maps

One thing for sure.

I love the raid feeling.

When you get a boat and go raid ashore. Completely different feel than cheesy blimp tactics.

Especially since Boat is direct unload all.

Yeah I do miss some of those simple mechanics. Unloading a whole army out of 3-4 ships was so epic, the enemy gets instantly overwhelmed and has to react with strong base defenses and walls just to delay for reinforcements.

But I was never a huge fan of ship combat. I know a lot of people like it, but that’s where I enjoy War3 much more. I was more about the spellcasters and air units in WC2.

Air is much more annoying than sea.

Because of collision size. You can group 12 gargoyle in 1cm circle.

That cant happen with boats. Makes it harder to attack as some boats cant get into attack range and also cant pull a batrider siege.
