4000+ game night elf player here, some ideas for wc3 or future RTS games:
Players need more persistence between games. this is true of both sc and wc.
the only wc has now is icons. which should be displayed, possibly with other achievements, in loading screens or in-game
The game needs a “inventory” system that players
can earn, trade and pick similar to overwatch, but it can be
very scaled down.
- ability to earn items as rewards at the end of matches,
for instance only being able to earn certain items and currency as rewards at the end of matches played on specific maps. the in game currency can be used for…
- Race theme unlocks that alters your units appearance or even buildings appereance
- neutral shop unlocks that can be purchased pre-game
with in-game currency. this would unlock certain new items at
neutral shops, and wouldn’t advantage any player, only make that item available to be purchased like any other item - item art upgrade unlocks, so when items are equipped, they have a visual effect on the hero
some other features could be thought about
- anonymous loading screens so that only your team can see
what players are on your team

a 5th race called Armies of Light and Dark
This race encompasses both the dark aspects of the undead with the holy aspects of the humans.
4 hero roster:
2 heroes of dark, a zombie lord and a werewolf
2 heroes of light, an angel and a cleric
main units unique feature is that they are neither living nor dead,
so they are both immune to holy light as well as death coil.
the units are mostly spiritual ethereal beings that are capable of resurrecting themselves. a “sacrificial slab on wheels” that is fed with dead enemy units that replenish the life and mana of your units.
and units that haunt enemies causing them to briefly switch sides,
grotesque or godly mobile monuments that provide combat
aid, which are essentially mobile statues hybrid of the obsidian statues and night elf giants, but more expensive, durable and powerful.
