Hi,
Can something maybe be done about ping for Australians, make it so USWEST or asia is lockable server or somthing? Or remove AUS vs EU as Eu server is very unplayable screen says 360ms but feels way worse

Hey so if you guys were going to intergrate global play, don’t you think you should invest in more servers? I mean playing 300 ping vs 35 korean ping makes no sense.
I doubt there are enough players in places like Australia to justify a server for them. This is why Blizzard actively shutdown many of their servers in the area and migrated the player base to the US servers.
Having servers near you will not help with latency unless you also play with other players near you. Since if they are not near you then they suffer the same latency problems you are suffering from now. Latency is largely caused by geographic distances due to internet communication working at some fraction of the speed of light. Light just takes a long time to go from Australia to the US, and then there is processing overhead and such to add on top of that.
Games like Diablo III and Overwatch use client local latency compensation. This is not possible in Warcraft III.
Having strategic locations for servers and using ping in the match making process to provide the lowest and fairest ping can be done (it’s already done extremely well on WC3 community ladder w3champions - which is community funded and has 26+ servers globally for match making). Even other games like AOE4 have done the same.
The problem is that for a match to be fair all people involved need to be near the local server. Having someone from Australia playing on the US server is as bad an experience for them as someone from the US playing on a hypothetical Australian server. As soon as you start to match people locally you are limiting the matching pool to just the people in range of the server.
Not only could this cause increased matching times but also reduce matching fairness. A person in Australia might have the same MMR as a person in the US, but due to local server restrictions this match is not possible. Instead the match maker cannot find the person an ideal match because the Australian server base is too small. After a few minutes of trying to find a match the system gets desperate and is forced to generate an unideal match, in this case matching them against a player with significantly higher MMR than them. The result is a lop-sided match that favours the higher MMR player.
Local servers work if a game is popular enough that each server has enough players to mostly find fair matches. Warcraft III would be lucky to have a few thousand players playing melee at peek times…
So you’re just going to continue talking nonsense when w3champions exist and we all play on fair ping?
Are the matches fair though? What proof do they give that they are making fair matches for low activity regions and not just shoving any random people in the queue in those regions together?
High latency matches are unplayable. Unfair matches are pointless.
