Version 2.0.2 Build 22726 PTR Patch Notes

get rid of resistant skin and Hunts heavy armor and wisp lumber buff. Game breaking changes that will ruin the game for everybody. I just want the game playable. You can keep breaking it and making it frustrating to play but those three changes would make the game unplayable.

Human’s power is still too strong. The level 2 water elemental is too strong against all races, and can reach level 2 early in Tier 1. The rifleman is also an OP ranged unit, and the flying machine is too strong for 1 food.

Thanks for fixing the new orb bug. But are you serious you are going to change elf lumping rate and huntress armor? This is going to break every single aspect of the game. Elf is already the strongest race with the most largest proportion of players. Elf should not be buffed significantly because human and orc are already suffer against elf.

Wand of Negation should have unlimited charges, with long cooldown and high gold, now more so as a single target dispel.

Undead needs a unit preservation or healing item, affecting a single target and consuming nearby corpses, healing maybe 50 per corpse instantly. This item’s cooldown should be long and have unlimited charges. This has synergy with Meat Wagons and Graveyards.

Now they’ve also cut the movement speed of Wyverns
You’re decreasing MS for gargoyles, helicopters, and wyverns, but not touching hippogryphs, and adding it to chimeras. Elves have always had extremely strong air units.
I don’t know why no one notices it, I don’t know who lobbied for this, but it’s nonsense.
What definitely needs to be done is somehow rework PotM’s owl. The owl should fly and randomly poop units, like 6 archers or huntresses per flight.

This is the buff for them because they are very weak. This is why it looks like this.

Yes, yes, the Elf lobby never sleeps. You have 4 air units(Other races 2,3,3). One is completely anti-air with a free button to mount an archer and become universal. The second is entirely ground-attacking, with a siege upgrade. The third is magic-immune, with an auto anti-focus ability, capable of becoming a tank and burning mana. The fourth is a ground caster that, on click, turns into a top-tier anti-air unit with huge range and attack. Plus, half of your ground units are also top-tier anti-air.
So let’s trim down the air units of all other races in terms of stats

Wisp lumber change being reigned in by the cost buffs being reverted is good.

Huntress heavy armor training time being increased by such a significant amount is also very good and fitting for such a strong buff.

Proposed Orb of Slow effects as well as the Paladin holy light CD are messy and not quite up to the Blizzard standard of clear, clean UI and mechanics interactions. I would be happier if Pala holy light remained at 6 seconds, and BM banish CD was changed from 4/2/0 to 2/1/0.

This patch looks like it’s just about done cooking. A few tiny changes are what’s left. Please continue to observe high level play to see if NE and HU changes are reasonable and won’t cause another PalaRifle nightmare for lower ranks.

If you think that all of this units are so good and amazing, that why everyone is playin dryads/bears and still 0 NE in top 9? : )

Changing the existing Item Slow (AIos) to be based off Shadow Strike instead of just adding a new orb ability* will break many maps. We run a community that is entirely based on Custom games, Each time you release one of these random changes it breaks one of the largest communities of players (on customs) games. The community is already small enough and with these recent changes it is very discouraging to see people have to completely go back into the editor and put vast amounts of time in to fix these changes. Please consider the customs community who pour HOURS of their personal life into the maps they create for the SMALL community of spawn based players left. These types of actions are only killing what is left of the customs community. A lot of our old mappers we have had for 15+ years have sense gone, but the legacy of their maps remain which are a lot of nostalgia for the rest of us and we love to play them. Unfortunately doing These patches that should of happened 20 years ago have broken these games, as most are protected and can’t be fixed with no editor to be found (Life) furthering the deterioration of the custom community. Releasing these “fixes” is just a major blow to a lot of the long time community that stands. Seems like a whole lot of backtracking. -MightyOwl

Human going from the worst orb to the best? Undispellable slow seems super strong.

SUGGESTIONS:

  1. Glaive Throwers and Meat Wagons should benefit from armor upgrades. Human/Orc siege all do…
  2. Necromancer’s Skeletal Mastery is way too expensive and makes Necromancers one of if not the most expensive unit in the entire game to commit to.
  3. PotM turn rate is too low compared to other orb attack users (0.4 instead of 0.6)

The Elf heroes, few units and buildings need buff and rework.
  1. Demon Hunter: base agility increase from 21 to 22.
  2. Keeper of the Grove: Keeper of the Grove base Intelligence increase from 18 to 19 and Entangling Roots cast range on 700 with lvl 2. Increase attack speed.
                             So now about units.

Dryads: Buff Abolish damage. Damage against summoned units increase from 250 to 300.
Mountain Giant: produce Mountain Giants without shop. Hardened Skin upgrade costs reduce from 100 gold 175 wood to 50 gold and 100 wood. Food cost reduce from 7 to 6.

                             Now about the buildings

Tree of life: buff Nature’s Blessing Armor Bonus on +2.
Nature blessing upgrade gold and wood cost reduce from 150 gold 200 wood to 100 gold and 170 wood.

Isn’t it obvious? Because Dryads and Bears are even stronger than that air. Same question for you: Which other race builds air units against Elves to justify nerfing air for all races?
Why aren’t Elves top 1? Because they throw like crazy. Even at my low MMR, I see silly mistakes from Elves, like trying to finish off enemies with barracks, forgetting to mana burn throughout the entire fight, not using invulnerability in time, not staffing, etc. There isn’t a single Elf who plays as cleanly as Fortitude, Happy, or Starbuck. Usually, if an Elf doesn’t throw, he wins. And often, even when an Elf does throw, he still wins

Its wonderful to finally see Frost Wyrm buffs! Hopefully this will make it to the live version because this unit really needs changes!

About Huntresses:
Heavy armor huntress may create a huge problem because:

  1. Towers no longer counter them
  2. Huntress base trade will be too strong because you cannot repair buildings. The Huntress attacks will kill all your workers by spreading to the repairing workers
  3. NE vs NE is probably going to be mass Huntress, which might be boring

I would suggest the following:
Huntress glaive attacks no longer bounce when attacking buildings and no longer bounce from building to building.
This will mean you can still repair your town hall when attacked by 10 huntresses.

Other than that I still suggest more changes and buffs to Necromancers. Maybe make Cripple automatically dispel all positive effects on enemy. Or make unholy frenzy dispel negative effects on friendly units.

  1. If elfs are too good then more pro players will play elfs because it is their job. Spoiler - Starbuck plays human and orc.
  2. If you have 13 elfs in top 30 and 0 of them in top 9 that is weird. Do you really think that between all of this player with 22 years history in wc3 (like moon and neytpon) we have 0 skill players? Do you saw last starbuck games? He loses 2 peasants on creeping and still win. Everyone do mistakes. If elfs do it more means that their units require more micro tax.
  3. Hippo are the worst air unit in the game except… FD. They are even worst.
Gargs > Hippo especially because of Nova. Bats > Hippo. Giro > Hippo. They lose every MU they face.

To be fair, with these changes for all we know top 10 could be like 8 NE. It’s hard to predict where we’ll end up with these changes.

I also don’t mind if NE gets good air units. It’s part of that asymmetrical secret sauce that makes War3 good.

Same with riders. Ensnare even better.

Same with riders

We find the way how to survive 22 years we will find this way again. Now it is easier to transition to FD or Hippo Archers that it is probably will be a counter. Panda also does a great job and DH cannot counter her in defensive position because of moonwells.
So no worries.

Late game didn’t changed at all.
MGs, Bears, Dryads, Talons are still the same. Orb nerfed.
Only midgame will be more stable, more games 2 bases vs 2 bases.

Did you see Leon vs Neytpon series?

Wisp changes should mean NE at least scales better the longer the fight goes on.

I did see a few games with Neytpon, where he just rolled over his oppo with Huntresses. Did something else happen, and/or could you link me the Vid with stamp so I could watch?

Unfortunately won’t mean much after these changes, we have to look at new games from today onward

Because huntresses it is like a new unit now. You need to adapt to it.
For example Neytpon vs Orc there was a HeadHunters. What? In what world would you build head hunters vs heavy armored unit with medium attack?
So im sure that for the first 1-2 weeks there will be huntresses everywhere until pro players will figure out how to counter them properly and others will copy.
Or if you smart - you already know the answer how to counter them. As orc - FS+TC or panda or spirit walkers for example or wyverns.

But you highlight the main thing - Orc vs NE will be the tough MU for Orc i think.
UD and HU will stay the same almost. Orc relays on early harass and the fact that ne cannot do anything until minute 10 where orc has expo running too much.
