Version 2.0.2 Build 22692 PTR Patch Notes

I love this Dark Ranger change!! Undead needs more viable strategies and healing other than Death Knight. We could even weaken Crypt Fiends by reducing attack range, damage, or increasing build time, and more Death Coil mana cost or cooldown.
Wand of Negation should have unlimited charges, with a long cooldown and high gold cost, maybe 400 or 450? Early game summons and healing are so impactful.
Undead needs a unit preservation or healing item, affecting a single target and consuming nearby corpses, healing maybe 50 per corpse instantly. This item’s cooldown should be long and have unlimited charges. Maybe this ability could be added to Halls of the Dead instead. This synergizes with Graveyards.
This corpse consumpion healing item would also synergize with the Dark Ranger changes and promote using meat wagons. The Dark Ranger transfers health while standing near a meat wagon and uses the proposed healing item to regenerate herself.
We are trying to move away from Death Knight as the only viable option, and make tavern Heroes more viable for Undead.
Blight perhaps should benefit only friendly units whether or not they are Undead. This gives more healing to tavern Heroes and stops opponents from benefitting when attacking a friendly base.

I feel like Gargoyles nerf is pretty random, considering that vs NE it wasn’t a popular choice for a few years at this point, vs Orc you’re usually not using them because of a tone of good AA option against them specifically (batriders/headhunters/riders) and vs Human they dropped a lot in popularity since the moment Paladin/Rifles became popular. But regardless, as long as rings are getting nerfed I am happy.

Human

Revert:

  • Militia Armor reduced from 4 to 3
  • Defend cost reduced from 150/100 to 125/75 and research time reduced from 45 to 40
  • Siphon Mana Range reduced from 600 to 500
  • Siphon Manage area of effect reduced from 800 to 700
  • Slow duration reduced from 60 to 45 seconds
  • Heal range increased from 250 to 350
  • Arcane vault requirement removed from Dragon Hawks and Cloud upgrade
  • Invisibility Range increase from 300 to 400

Keep:

  • Defend piercing reduction reduced from 65 to 50%

Add:

  • Riflemen HP nerfed by 20-25%

There is no need to nerf bloodmage, it’s not played solo or in other comps, the problem are riflemen, nerf riflemen hp by 20-25% and pala rifle will be a balanced noob strat, not something broken.

Orc
Revert:

  • Lighting Orb damage against summons increased from 150 to 300

^ Ridiculous change, this makes far seer in Orc vs Orc completely unplayable

  • Envenomed Spears damage per tick reduced from 4 to 3
  • Wind Rider level reduced from 4 to 3
    Nobody asked for this? windriders already aren’t played enough

Keep:

  • Tauren now have Resistant Skin by default
  • Lighting Orb cost reduced from 375 to 325
  • Sentry, Stasis, and Healing Wards are now magic immune
  • Healing Wards duration from 30 to 25
  • Great Hall build time from 140 to 125

Night Elf

Revert:

  • Moonstone duration increased from 30 to 45 seconds

Keep:

  • Nature’s Blessing lumber cost reduced from 200 to 175
  • Hunter’s Hall cost lumber cost reduced from 100 to 80
  • Ultra Vision research time reduced from 45 to 30 seconds
  • Orb of venom damage per tick reduced from 9 to 8
  • Mana Burn range reduced from 300 to 250
  • Mountain Giant Food cost reduced from 7 to 6

Add:

Undead:
DISCLAIMER: I think Undead is weaker overall, HOWEVER, Happy already dominates competitive play, you have to make a sacrifice to not kill competitive play altogether, everyone will just automatically assume they won’t stand a chance against him with these buffs…

Revert:

  • Wand of Negation charges increased from 2 to 4
  • Frost Nova range reduced from 800 to 700
  • Burrow research time reduced from 45 to 35 seconds
  • Anti Magic shield blocked reduced from 420 to 300

What are we doing here? this seemingly innocent change will create so many new disgusting aggro/cheese builds, the game does not need more cheese builds, please revert this.

Footmen change is pretty big IMO bro. Would love to hear some experts comment on that one.

So you’re proposing to nerf HP by 20% on a unit, that became meta only because of minor buffs? Was there even a single instance of a unit getting HP increased/decreased by 20% in a single patch? lol

I remember how everyone was theorycrafting cheeses and fast expands with firelord’s buff and then it ended up never happening.

If anything, I’d love to see minor buffs to a paladin-rifles hardcounters, (like -15s on expand timing for orcs that is in patchnotes) not completely deleting one of the units because it started to be meta.

I actually rather like the drain life change. I’d seen a few people in the past ask for being able to transfer life to other units. I don’t think it’s going to be that dramatic.

Nerfing Rifleman HP by ~20% or so would negate devotion aura on them, which is the point, devotion aura on itself is fine outside of riflemen, riflemen start with 0 armor so you can’t nerf armor.

Can sentinels either become permanent, or give huntresses unlimited charges, with 2-3 min cooldown?

20% is insane and would pretty much render them useless.

Again: Human’s MOST POPULAR STRATEGY is unable to secure a >=50% win rate at pro level right now. It’s strong at low level play so some adjustment is clearly called for, but what we need are tweaks not sledgehammers.

Also, buffs for other races further negate the need to make nerfs here.

Bug Spotted: When using Classic Standard Graphics not Classic HD, the game is always fully zoomed out at the start of a match regardless of settings chosen.

With Classic HD and Reforged this dos not happen from my testing.

You in-fact can nerf armor below 0. It would look ugly, but it’s in game engine. Regardless you ignore the fact rifles could be attacked not just by autos, but by the spells as well. Also I don’t like the idea of any nerfs to anything in the game, that would modify any variable by more than 10%, you can literally make blacksmith cost 60 lumber again and paladin rifles would drop off the meta once again.

WTF Blood Mage is barely played outside of Pala Rifle? Why would you nerf Banish? I’d suggest buffing it not to reduce the movement speed if cast on friendly units…

It doesn’t even matter whether something has >50% or <50% winrate. Anyone who made any money can be technically considered as a professional player, but yeah, nerfing HP of any unit in the game by 20% is ridiculous.

I would like Frost Wyrms to use 6 food!!
They have 1350 health and take more food now than a Mountain Giant with 1600. I see no reason how this food reduction would impact anything. This change would benefit Undead against Orc in free for all, as Frost Wyrms are maybe the only viable army against Orc in late games. It would allow 1 additional Frost Wyrm in the army.

Blademaster in free for all has become intolerable because of Mirror Image. Recently added ladder maps enable buying Crown of Kings.
I appreciate why Mirror Image was changed in solo games, improving viability and strategies. This seemed to disregard the impact on late game free for all.
I befriended a skilled Korean player on battlenet’s free for all ladder who I respect a lot. I would love seeing him play solo competitively. He turns the Blademaster into something unimaginable and unbeatable.
This Mirror Image change was especially devastating for Undead, who get 1 dispel every 10 seconds with a 5 food air unit which dies instantly to 2 bat riders for 4 food. Undead in this situation could never produce enough Destroyers to counter Mirror Image, and 10 bat riders with splash damage could remove a full army of only Destroyers.
Mirror Image should be low mana, and not have illusions causing damage, while illusions receive much more damage, or some variant of these, but not all at once.
A 1600 health Blademaster multiplying over and over puts free for all in an unfortunate state currently.

If a strategy doesn’t win games, then it’s not broken.

Now, I’ve said myself that the impact of any given tactic can vary at different levels of play, and this is why I think some minor adjustements may still be needed to make this less oppressive at lower levels of play (i.e. its a low skill strat more than a high skill one). But it needs to be done in a way that doesn’t compromise the game at higher levels of skill.

mass wyws now in all matchups

The Elf heroes, few units and buildings need buff and rework.
  1. Demon Hunter: return +1 agility. Buff range mana burn from 300 to 400. Metamorphosis cooldown reduce from 180 to 120.
  2. Keeper of the Grove: Keeper of the Grove base Intelligence from 18 to 19 and Entangling Roots cast range on 700 with lvl 2. Increased treants damage base from 14 to 16 and movement speed.
  3. Potm: Owls Scouts buff like more duration and base attack cooldown reduced from 2.33 to 2.00.
  4. Warden: Shadow strike mana cost reduce from 75 to 65.

Wisps: mana drained after Detonate increase from 40 to 45 and hp buff from 125 to 130

                             So now about units.

Dryads: Return Abolish Magic damage against summoned units 300. Buff mana regen.

Druid of the Claw(Bear form): Buff Druid of the Claw (Bear Form) base damage increase from 25 to 26.

Mountain Giant: produce MG’s without shop. Hardened Skin upgrade costs reduce from 100 gold 175 wood to 50 gold and 100 wood.

Chimaera: movement speed return from 250 to 270.

                             Now about the buildings

Tree of lifes buff Nature’s Blessing Armor Bonus on +2.
Nature blessing upgrade cost reduce from 150 gold 200 wood to 100 gold and 150 wood.

Request to solve some UI issues

You can try to create a 24 person map at any position and then turn on all AI. You will find that the difficulty selection menu is offset, and the larger the player, the more severe the offset

When entering LAN or single player mode, it is common to enter custom mode

Simplified Chinese still has a large number of localization errors and un localized parts, such as some fields in the balance constant of the map editor and all trigger editor content, as well as the AI placement type guard of the object editor

The model avatar of the object editor does not have a default value

The map editor crashes. You can try opening a regular battle map and creating or modifying patch data version settings. It is likely to freeze, but if you place some surface protrusions and units on the map now, it will work normally

You may not be able to fix the underlying error of game crashes, but please tell us how to self check crash logs. Currently, no one knows how to view crash logs, which is very important for the community
