Unit Sound Sets not working for certain models

When applying certain sound sets to units with certain model files, there is no sound responses altogether. :speaker:

For example if the Rifleman sound set is applied to all Night Elf melee units in the Editor the following will have no sound responses: Wisp, Faerie Dragon, Hippogryph (Unmounted), Chimaera, Mountain Giant, Glaive Thrower, Treant, Owl Scout (All levels), all buildings and all uprooted ancients.

However if I also change the model file of the aforementioned units to Rifleman they have sound again.

All of the aforementioned units/model files also seem to be able to play other sound sets of other units facing the same problem.
For example I can get a unit using the Chimaera or Moonwell model to play the Chicken or Skink (Neutral Passive) soundset, and incidentally the Skink and Chicken models have the same problem as the aforementioned Night Elf models as neither can play the Rifleman Soundset and a bunch of others.

Something like that here too. In the Prologue, sometimes Thrall says nothing, other units does, but not him.

I would like to bump this report up, but also provide more data on the matter.
I first assumed the problem is only present in HD as it probably is, and from my quick look into it, all of the aforementioned units lack facefx data that most other units have in HD. I don’t think this is the right place to explain what FaceFX is or even why FAFX is a part of the v1000 of MDX, but it would explain why it’s exactly those models that don’t work with Rifleman sounds (Riflemen have FAFX) and also why the soundsets of those units work interchangeably.

My current assumption can be summed up as: “Sounds bound to FAFX animations won’t play on units without them” which also tells us what to look out for in the future.
