Unable to download patch 1.31.1 on Mac

Running on MacOS Mojave 10.14.5

  1. Start warcraft 3 game
  2. click Battlenet
  3. I get a message that there is new patch 1.31.1
  4. I click “yes” I want to download the patch
  5. I get an error message that downloading patch failed and if I want to troubleshoot online
  6. I click "yes’ I want to troubleshoot online, the dialog closes and nothing happens.

EDIT:

I figured out a workaround
Open Warcraft 3 Launcher instead of Warcraft 3
Click repair and it will install the latest patch.
