Trouble setting race vs AI in "testing map" in Editor

Hi Guys!

Like many of you, I have figured out an approved method to play against an AI opponent with our prepurchased beta access. This has become fairly popular for those with anxiety, disability, or who just like to play slow- and in my case all three haha.

The method for this is: Launch BNet App > Click on Launch Editor (not play) > File > Open Map > Blizzard Maps > dropdown maps > Select a map of choice > click on the OK button > aaaaand that’s where I’m getting lost.

So yes, test map button (or Control + f9) will launch this map with you as red humans every time. I want to check out a different race but have been unable to do so. I read you are supposed to load the map in the editor and then go Scenario Menu > Player Properties > and then set player one to your race of choice plus computer or user, and player 2 you can set race or computer/user. I’m making sure to press the OK button on the menu every time when I’m done, and the information evenn seems to have been saved in there correctly… But every time I’m launching test map only to find I am red humans every time and I really want to check out another race, especially Nelves.

Can anybody please tell me what I’m doing wrong on this? Again I’d like to play against AI in the test map feature of World Editor but I’m having trouble changing my race despite seeming to have followed all the technical steps precisely.

P.S. Computer is rushing me and I am a slow Campaign-preferring player. Does anyone out there know how to change the difficulty of the enemy in the map editor? I might have to fire up some cheat codes ingame but I want one that will not be instawin, just allow me to fend the computer’s first rush or two off.

EDIT: I got it! You also have to Scenario > Player Properties > Forces Tab > and click both fixed starting points and Use Custom Forces and Fixed Player Settings. Works!

Cheats makes the AI aggressive.

warpten increases the speed for buildings and tech.
whosyourdaddy makes you unkillable and oneshotbeverything.
Allyourbasearebelongtous is Instant win.
Iseedeadpeople for vision.

Hey man, why don’t you just create a custom game make it private and add the AI from there? That way you can set their colour, race and difficulty?

And your own colour and race.

I must be missing something sorry haha

You aren’t missing something… I’m missing something.

Your suggestion instantly works! Darn that is so much easier than trying to screw around in Map Editor. I kinda tried going through Custom Games yesterday, but didn’t go all the way through the menus or I would have seen that it works easily via that method. But I didn’t go deep into that deep into the Custom Game menus because I wasn’t sure if that would work- and I thought I’d simply accidentally launch a game that someone else would hop in, and I’d start off my multiplayer record as 0-1 or with a D/C or something else negative. I should’ve just stuck through and gone fully through the menus.

I think I got off on the wrong track because a google search for help brought up an old MMO Champ or Reddit post from right when the beta first launched 3 months ago, and back then I don’t think you could play versus AI in Custom Games at first. So my google search for help brought up outdated answers, to use the Map Editor workaround method, which now is obsolete- and a giant headache to go that way, especially for someone unfamiliar with the Editor.

It’s great I can just set the difficulty down to Easy and not have to worry about cheats either.

EDIT: I’m going to leave this post up so anybody in my same boat and search for and find an easy way to play against AI, without having to screw with and get confused by the more complicated Map Editor method.

Thanks again for replying! I’m going to hop in a game right now hehe. For the Alliance!!

If u wanna train against KI don’t use cheats.
They steamroll you after roughly 5 minutes after using them.

To set races in the editor one has to enable fixed player settings in the player forces window. Otherwise they will use default values.
