too much delay,i can not do anyhting beofe 0.5s or evenmore.i suggest that the organaziton do not match two players having more then 100 ms delay .OR the net have lost it’s enjoying.
First off, the game is very playable over 100 ping, that’s elitist gamer talk.
Secondly, the game already prefers lower ping when possible. It only matches you into a game with higher ping if the players in the queue have been waiting too long, because a game with high ping is better than no game at all- and everyone deserves to be able to play, regardless of where they are located.
Note: First off, some one with 30ms would almost always steal your item if you were at 100ms or above, if that weren’t the case Pro players wouldn’t be actually physically living in countries that provide better pings!
If someone steals your items, you dropped the ball in the first place. It shouldn’t ever even come to a matter of milliseconds. This kind of scenario where we’re battling IN a creep camp and there’s an item on the ground that we both cclick after at the same time happens like once in hundreds of games. It’s a very rare situation in my experience. Most battles are not decided by a few milliseconds, they’re decided by your decision making ability and knowledge of game mechanics far, far more than ping differences.
But it’s an irrelevant point anyway. Most of us are not pros and do not require the same performance parameters to be able to enjoy the game. And if you ARE a pro, you probably aren’t playing via battle.net in the first place
Forgive me, but your inexperience is showing…
Wrong, ping matters a lot. Specially when you’re clinging to life and spamming that scroll portal.
you’re probably wrong again…
Foirgive me, but I never claimed to be a top 10 player and at “ordinary person” levels of play, this really doesn’t happen. dont conflate experience with skill.
You don’t have to be a reigning champion to observe delays stemming from high ping. Experience confers skill, look up experience -enabled skill…
You do have to be a reigning champion to be bothered by it. Observing ping and it having an impact are not the same thing.
And further, ping is only going to create an imbalance if there is a significant difference between yours and that of the other player(s). And you can’t see other player’s pings. You can perhaps deduce it if you see some korean names and you’re in the US and pinging 300, then they’re probably not. But it can also just as easily be the other way around.
I played this game on dialup back in the day and a ping under 150 was practically impossible. If you’re used to it, you can compensate for it.
they are…
you can …
back then there used to be a delay programmed into bnet
No, they’re not. If you know your ping you can play around it, especially if it’s generally the same and you’re used to it.
No, you can’t. You can “guess” what someone’s ping might be in the case of players with Korean/Chinese names, maybe, but there is no way to check someone else’s ping in game. The server doesn’t report other player’s pings to you and that would be the only way to directly find out.
No there wasn’t lol.
The only major difference between then and now is now the game uses proxy servers which we connect to that internally simulate the original peer-to-peer networking system. This is why the “waiting for players” thing was disabled, as on the client side, we’re all connected through a proxy so short of a total connection interruption, the game continues on even if you’re having network problems- your client freezes, and then catches up if something like that happens, instead of the game stopping with the “waiting for players” thing.
