"This replay came from an earlier version of Warcraft 3, and cannot be played"

Since offline patches are no longer available - I hope this error will be gone, and replays will be playable regardless of game updates.

wait what? you dont seem to understand that the original TFT client can still launch older patches

Yes, it can. But Reforged cannot. I have made a replay with a previous Reforged beta patch, and now, when trying to play it - it says I cannot play it because it was made by an earlier version.

I wouldnt expect beta replays to be saved after Reforged is fully released, if you want to play older replays you can do so in Classic TFT

idk if Reforged will play older replays or not, you are right that it will suck if it doesnt since we cant change the patch… but I would be very very surprised if they make it play older patches

Does SC2 replay older patches without downgrading?

Yeah, I can play pre-Reforged replays on pre-Reforged clients - but this error message is already suspicious. I hope it’s just a beta thing, and that after release, Reforged doesn’t force us to fraps every replay before it’s too late. Lineage 2 did that for too long…

that’s where my feedback come from

No idea. However, since Reforged, W3 cannot be downgraded - unless they make an offline installer, which I doubt will be happening.

so back in the days of patch 1.26 fans had created a tool that auto-loads older patches when viewing replays, but it stopped working with newer patches, so the creator stopped updating it

Technically blizzard could do the same, but its probably too much work for them, and its probably not a highly requested feature thats at the top of their to do list :frowning:

I wouldnt expect it to change, remember blizzards focus here is to sell skins to WoW fanboys, not actually fix/improve the game for us longtime players

yes it can if you just apply the older patch first, like i said in the comment I posted just above yours, there used to be a tool that did it automatically for you… so it is still technically possible

Of course you had to. Is your purpose here to spread misinformation?

Edit: Oh, nevermind. You are one of those users who tell everyone over and over again that you are not interested in Reforged and won’t stop bringing your criticism in every thread. I think trolling is the right word here

Well. To use your argumentation: Because you can’t recall it does mean it got changed by bad Devs? Quick google use showed me entries from 2009 at patch 1.22 and I am pretty sure it was around since release of RoC because I used it to be able to listen to Audio Comments.

Nevermind, I was thinking about something else. I was wrong on that.
