This new update and patches

Everything they’ve “fixed” so far means nothing. Nobody is asking for the things they keep working on. I’m seriously tired of seeing updates where they’re fixing sound bugs, or a blade of grass in the campaign, or some tree that’s too big in a single-player mission. Like seriously—who cares?

“Fixed: XRVTW Sound glitch”
“Fixed: TGTREWDGSDAFDSF not playing audio properly”

WHO IS ASKING FOR THAT?!

Meanwhile, the real problems that have been killing the game for years are still ignored:

  • No proper punishment or timeouts for leavers
  • Matchmaking still broken since 2019
  • Level system completely busted—average players stuck at level 0 forever
  • Custom games barely alive because Battle.net population is way too low
  • Toxic players, throwers, AFKers—no report system that works

How is the game supposed to grow when the foundation is broken?

You want more people playing? Then bring more people to Battle.net. You want better custom games? Then FIX Battle.net. Nobody is booting up the game thinking, “Man, I really hope they fix the way the birds chirp on Mission 3 of the campaign.”

Fix the real problems!

We’ve been asking for YEARS. Stop throwing updates at things that don’t matter just so you can say “we’re doing something.” If the core systems suck, no amount of cosmetic or tiny campaign fixes will matter. People leave because the experience is bad—and it’s bad because you refuse to fix the real stuff.

Yeah the MMR system is completely pointless for RT (4s at least)

This number has no relevance whatsoever - a 5k player can be teamed with a 500 MMR who does nothing but stabs 80% of his games.

W3Champions is right there waiting for you.

Yeah, but I wish everyone on Battle.net would just move over to W3 Champions so we could finally see the end of Blizzard’s mess. If Blizzard sent all their players to W3 Champions, this dilemma would be over. At least over there, everything is under control.
just need the player base

Yeah no I disagree, the music playing during FMVs as well as duplicating after loading a save game was really bad for the campaign experience and absolutely needed fixing. This game is a lot more than Melee.

Hahahahahah omg, look at this dude. I’ve never seen this guy live before, and now he’s here acting like the campaign matters. My friend, no one cares about the campaign.

Seriously, how many times have you even played the campaign? It’s a one-and-done experience for most people. The real heart of the game is multiplayer and custom games—that’s where the community lives and breathes.

The campaign might be nice for story fans, but it doesn’t bring players back or keep them playing every day. Fixing tiny campaign bugs or changing a tree size won’t save the game.

If Blizzard wants to revive the player base, they need to focus on what actually matters:

  • Matchmaking that works
  • Timeouts and penalties for leavers
  • A functioning level system
  • A healthy, active multiplayer environment

Until they do that, all these campaign fixes are just distractions. The campaign doesn’t keep the servers alive. Multiplayer does.

Battle.net exists for custom games, w3champions will always (by design) be better than battle.net matchmaking, reason number 1 being amount of servers, ping equalizer and community maps making it fast.

I am.
Thank you

It’s one of the main selling points of the game. I’d say it’s a major feature. Also judging by the likes, you’re wrong about nobody caring about it.

Hell, it would be nice to have statistics of how much people spend their time in single player than multiplayer. Because people like us exist. We also deserve fixes to make our experience better.

that’s a super incorrect thing to say
I specifically asked for these:

it means a lot to me.

Matchmaking still broken since 2019

The matchmaking has actually improved substantially (ignoring the morons who still drop from every single game, but their MMR now seems to tank much faster and it is at least obvious when someone is going to do it)

The caveat here is this patch was implemented in the middle of a season which means people’s MMRs are still out of whack- but they should at least adjust properly from whatever their current values are finally. But I have already been seeing way more fair matches, especially in 2v2 where I’ve historically felt like the game was nearly impossible due to how the matching worked.

Level system completely busted—average players stuck at level 0 forever

This is at least partially improved by the MMR adjustments. It still needs its own fixes but with MMR gradually becoming more accurate it should at least be less impossible to progress the system.

The match reporting to server is a;sp finally reliable (it took like 5 years but yay), I haven’t seen the “failed to retrieve data” error in some time now.

Toxic players, throwers, AFKers—no report system that works

Blizzard can’t fix the community, and it would take more real human moderators than they are willing to spend money on to truly fix this. I hear you on this one but the most I think you can expect is them making the automated system more likely to flag accounts for review with less effort.

Leavers

There’s not much that can be done here. I’ve said many times in the past, Outside of maybe the first 2 minutes, games can legitimately be decided in very short amounts of time in some cases, so how can we punish destructive players without punishing people who got hero rushed in a matter of minutes who quit because their allies didn’t TP (as an example?)

The only reasonable solution I can see is addressing leaving within the first minute. Also, only the first leaver should get a penalty because everyone else after that shouldn’t be forced to stay when they’re down a man. Outside of that, the only way I can agree with a leaver punish system is if there’s a way out without being punished, such as a surrender vote.

Custom games barely alive because Battle.net population is way too low

I mean… no patch can fix this. They did however fix the issues with idle games being listed and have made many world editor updates to address custom game issues. That’s about all they can do, you can’t magic players into existence out of nowhere.

This was a very good patch that addressed a lot of problems. Just becuase they didn’t work a miracle and check every box you’ve ever wanted doesn’t mean it wasn’t progress in the right direction.

Not everyone is a normal competitive match player (I prefer to use the word “melee” player) like you’re. Warcraft 3 is an engine! Many a beloved game runs on it!!! It is extremely important to fix underlying bugs.

If no one plays the normal match, the game will never die. If no one is playing custom games, or playing with world editor, this game will eventually come to death.

I really can’t stand every time a new patch is coming, everyone is BSing about balance, the numbers, this race vs that race, and every other melee things. You have your own channel – you may have not noticed, Blizzard did create a dedicated channel for you people, the “COMPETITIVE MULTIPLAYER” channel. Just go there, leave us alone.

The problem is that Blizzard always includes balance changes in every update. A patch intended for bug fixes shouldn’t be like this

Many issues are ignored or not addressed based on feedback, and no repairs have been made at all. The balance issue has little impact on the game now, and there are no obviously powerful units in the current version. Therefore, I hope they can focus on repairs

Listen, kid, don’t write any nonsense here, okay?

If you’re a fan of multiplayer, then just play other games, Warcraft III is much more than online matches.

Why does it need 3G+ size for such nonsense. What exactly did they do requires a 3G download?
All servers now have only 20 to 30 hosted games, 50 if we are lucky. And they need timeouts? seriously? Are they using a microwave oven chip as server or something?

timeouts were to kill off zombie lobbies with AFK hosts

I’m just going to say it again, functionally speaking, this was a very good patch- Match quality has significantly improved and there may even be at least slightly fewer leavers as a result. One of the biggest reasons people leave is because the match looks unfair, so if the game creates fairer matches (at least, by the MMRs), then there should be fewer leavers.

And that fix will never happen, maybe in our next life, on another planet, we can hope for matchmaking

Have you even played the game? I’m seeing an immediate match quality difference. It’s so different anyone can see it.
