Apparently, the Blizzard classic game team told the players during the Blizzard invitational tournament last year (Grubby said this) that they weren’t happy with Human and Elf using their tools like Militia and Ancient of War’s to creep.
This, combined with Night Elf’s moon well buff, is a clear indication they want all races to creep with their armies only.
But I think this is 100% the wrong direction/mindset for them to take. (Miltitia/aow creeping been used for 15+ years)
Firstly, both races are still using their tools to creep, albeit at worse rate - especially Human. But the main problem is it really affects Human expanding, especially on maps with difficult creep camps at the Natural’s like Twisted, Amazonia etc. They also can’t use militia to support fights.
Secondly, Every race has different tools for creeping… blademaster can snipe high value creeps (also got harder to due to agility nerf) . Undead uses rod of necromancy to assist in creeping and in many cases solo creep entire camps just with the DK, Human’s core tool was militia creeping and expanding which has been severely hampered.
Every race has strengths and weaknesses. I think it’s a mistake to try and eliminate those strengths and weaknesses, and the proof is in the pudding. Human’s strength was expanding and securing the macro game, but now Human is having a hard time doing anything other than 1 Base rifles. Do we really want to see Human game going 1 base rifles / rifle pushes like Mr.Winner every game? I appreciate that human can go 1 base more often, but at the same time I certainly enjoyed playing and watching expansion play vs Elf and UD. We saw different army compositions and more tactical game play.
Despite many glaring issues with the latest patches (MG double taunt), I suggest for Blizzard to revert the Miltita nerf as a starting point for the next balance patch.

A clean solution would be to make the creeps that are close to your base weaker. No AoW/Millita creeping needed anymore. It kinda looks stupid when a production building is misused as a siege unit. Same story with militias. They should only serve as a short time base defense army but are ‘misused’ for creeping as well.

Your clean solution would greatly benefit every strategy that involves creeping and severely hurt every strategy that involves harassing. Doesn’t seem very clean to me.

You call it misused, I call it creatively used. Do Orcs also misuse their peons when taking them to fights in order to increase spirit link targets?

Wouldn’t that depend on the map? Some maps have stronger starter creep camps than others.

Let’s call it creatively misused. And yes, technically they do. Peons are worker units not soldiers. Spirit link shouldn’t work on them. And I think there is a fine line between creativity and dragging a game into absurdity. See Acolyte rush.

Doesn’t change the fact that your suggested “clean solution” would greatly benefit every strategy that involves creeping and severely hurt every strategy that involves harassing.

I didn’t know you were the instance in charge of deciding how units must or mustn’t be used. You should definitely call Blizzard and tell them to remove the attack damage from the Peons since they are worker units.

Having that one (green) camp that is nearest to your base nerfed doesn’t automatically ruin all your harassing strategies. It would even save you some time. And as I said different maps call for different solutions.

Peons need the attack ability to chop trees. You can make them target trees only but I see nothing wrong with workers defending in their own base. But using them as meat shields or cannon fodder looks very stupid.
militia and AOW/Treeoflife creeping is one of the more interesting concepts in the game.
It sacrifices economy or base security for a fast expansion/creep camp.
Frankly it should be promoted and improved upon as a concept.
