They are just blaming the community

Blizz scrapped the campaign changes because, allegedly, "fans wanted to keep things true to the original.

This is just an excuse. They scrapped it because they were having schedule issues (beta was supposed to start early 2019, remember?) and had to cut corners.

It isn’t that hard to see that we were meant to get:

  • Warcraft 3 Classic/Original Campaign (which could be played with HD models)
  • Warcraft 3 Reforged Campaign

Now we are only getting:

  • Warcraft 3 Classic/Original Campaign

If anyone isn’t too bright to notice, it means we are getting LESS content. That’s the wholehardly reason why they are doing this.

You must be new here

True scheduling issues means content would get postponed. The ladder, for example, will come some time after launch. Hence, the campaign changes would still have a chance. However, if it’s completely axed, it’s not likely due to scheduling… Bliz changed their mind.

That’s what happens when the only person working on the game is a part time janitor. Likely the same one that also occasionally works on Team Fortress 2.

I don’t recall hearing about a new campaign myself. I pre-ordered for the same game and story I enjoyed before, just with a new look and graphics.

I propably said so.
I love the original story with infected grain aspect. If they remove too much things they may lose something that was very key element of the story. Time will tell.

It’s the multiplayer that’s timeless. The campaign will be done within 20-30 hours for most people.

Even the big and main character of Battle of Azeroth like Saurfang is not going to be in reforged such a shame.

What they were doing for the whole year?

Blizzard axed a metric ton of things they advertised and promised and then walked back on because of scheduling. Like the Spider Kingdom zone in WotLK. Anub’arak was relegated to a forgettable 5 man dungeon boss.

To be fair, they DID get rather loud feedback telling them “no WoW retcons.” So, we’re not getting the planned side content that would have required them to completely re-do all the voice acting for the campaign.

We are, however, still getting updated campaign maps. Which is really all we needed to begin with.
