The reforged is costly?

Hello all, just i was thinking about the cost of WC3 reforged, is it costly to be with 30 EUR ??
may be that for few people will be related to Currency rate (like me :disappointed_relieved:), but what about the cost in general for a remastered or reforged ?

Yeah, it costs half the price of an AAA game and its worth it i think. They are creating a major graphical overhaul. A new engine i thinkā€¦ It will be like a brand new game but with all the content classic W3 had.

It is the same engine with a layer on top for the new graphics, otherwise it would take far more work to stay compatible with classic war3. Other than graphics, theyā€™re enhancing the editor in some way, remastering the campaigns, and integrating war3 into your bnet client (meaning it has bnet social support). They are also rebalancing competitive play, which I imagine is kind of buried in the cost of this game even though classic war3 gets the balance update for free.

The price is a little high, but I feel like itā€™s worth it; Iā€™d pay more to see this game shine, but thatā€™s just me.

I canā€™t believe what Iā€™m hearing. 30 dollars is extremely cheap for what they claim they are doing.

They are having to rebuild the WC3 engine to make it compatible with both new and old graphics, assets, and technologies, while still keeping the two compatible and staying in spec. This is more work than most AAA games have to do on an engine to bring it to specifications.

They are remaking all art assets of the original warcraft 3, which is quite extensive. These new assets are probably in the neighborhood of 10,000 times more detailed than the original assets. There is more detail in one of arthasā€™ fingers now than his entire old model.

The standard length of a campaign in modern AAA titles is about 8-10 hours with multiplayer. This game has a 40+ hour campaign.

They are including a world editor full of assets, something that is usually reserved for game studios.

They are remaking all the cinematics (this one I couldnā€™t believe). There are 30 minutes of quality cinematics, which could easily cost over 1/3 the cost of a typical Pixar movie to produce.

For comparison, a single Fortnite skin costs 20 dollars. This is a reskin of a massive game and much more.

No, 30 dollars is not asking too much.

if you dont live in murrika or west/north europe, then 30 ā‚¬ or whatever currency is actually quite something. For example here, you could buy 45 liters of beer for that money. With monthly salary about 400-500ā‚¬ you have other expenses. Just cause people use English, dont expect it is all murricans. (sorry its the Russians :smiley: )

so, before you start insulting people why it is so cheap, other people who work on the U.S: empire and its hegemony do have to earn little money for the same work. For them, that nothing 30bugs, or ā‚¬ might be worth much more than you can think. Im not even thinking parts of africa where people work for food even.

To be fair i dont think thereā€™s any insults intended by anyone here.

Even though i think the price tag is high, Iā€™d still throw more money at it. Especially since itā€™s being integrated into bnet, that means you can use your bnet balance. Making gold in wow is easy and has allowed me to purchase all sc2 content, all blizzard games since bnet balanceā€™s inception, my wow sub, plus more. Iā€™ll happily make wow gold and put it all into war3 and sc2 because i believe in the teams working on these titles.

Price is right for what we should be getting.

Blizzard are not a charity and if you love Warcraft it will be money well spent to support the franchise and it continuation as an RTS game.

think of it this way, RoC was $20 before reforged released, same with TFT, now theyā€™re together and ā€œreforgedā€ as well as you get the classic versions and more for only $30? I think thats a great deal

yes thats the case :sweat_smile: i am living in Egypt so the currency is equal to more than 600 LEā€¦ it is a big number thats many people salary is not exceeding 1500 LE to 2000 /month :disappointed_relieved: which will affect other expenses.

There is no new engine, itā€™s simply a skin over the existing gameā€¦

ah its cheap right but not for ppl like we living in hell that you guys call it iran with 100$ salary per month i love warcraft but i never cant buy it cuz of our trash money

Yes it is too much. For the campaing 10/15ā‚¬ + the multiplayer stuff add more 10ā‚¬ it should be max 25ā‚¬ I think 20ā‚¬

I kinda wanted to get onto this wc3 train, because I think itā€™s a very fun strategy game.
The campaign was interesting too. Not paying this much for a reskin though, AoE II Definitive Edition brings way much more for very little price. Greedy move.

As a comparison - Skyrim was given for free if you had the game with all expansions, and Dark Souls, which basically changed almost nothing - is 40ā‚¬. There is no standard price.

30 ISK is not quite something, but they still charge 30ā‚¬, which is about 33$. I mean, they could as well either charge me 30$, or charge me in my currency for my convenience. Why are they charging me more for the convenience of banks?

US is financially comparable to Poland. The middle class of Europe. Itā€™s not some land where you work on a farm for 8 hours and are already rich.

Everywhere around the world people work to earn their living. The thing is that food in Africa is expensive because of the lack of local food industry and export policies of other countries.

The only purpose of that post is to insult, because that person was defending a 33$ price by saying ā€œ30$ is cheapā€. If he didnā€™t intend to insult, he would argue about the price in the topic, not about his local price.

They did not rebuild the engine, they are using the same oneā€¦ and they are not remaking all the cutscenes just enhancing them a bit. And the 30 minutes of cinematics are exactly the same just upscaled to 4Kā€¦ I still think is worth peopleā€™s money buy get your facts right.

Reforged is mostly a scam. Youā€™ll pay $30 and then youā€™ll want to quit in about a month because of slow development and no communication from actiblizzard, as well as 0 discipline for a super toxic community. Go buy AOE2 DE for $20. Youā€™ll have a way funner time and itā€™s worth every $. Microsoft isnā€™t as greedy as f like actiblizzard. They had a great launch and a huge community. Itā€™s a fun game you can get lost in

compare remaster of this to resident evil 2. Resident evil 2 remaster is actually worth it cause of how insane the overhaul was.

This should have been $20
