The Culling. What causes undead to spawn outside the city?

I am really stuck here in Hard difficulty. Every few minutes, lots of undead spawn from both east ( the town) and the west ( where the orcs were ). It is impossible to purge the city while keeping the base alive.

When I watch videos on youtube, none of them seem to have this issue. The only incoming attacks are from the city. What gives?

In the reforged update of the Stratholme map, there’s only one entrance to your base, not two. So they can only attack from one direction, which is the west.

There’s also only one entrance from the undead base to the city, which is to the east (and at this point as far as I am aware the undead don’t use air units)

The purple undead base will send waves to attack your base, but they basically have to wander from the north/northwest to the eastern entrance, then cross through the city to reach your base in the southeast. The only force I can think of that could attack from the east while attacks also come from the west would be the undead controlled by Mal’ganis, and they don’t leave the city, they teleport into it and go on a rampage destroying houses.

U are right partly that the entrance is only one, but they are just spawning at the east, near the well, and attacking (purple undead) from both sides non-stop. I have the same thing

Cheat codes still work and doesn’t affect your progress.

I haven’t played the campaign so I can’t help you in particular

this is normal, but the strategy is the same
you can finish the missions without being hit by a single undead unit
just use arthas with holy light + divine shield to kill mal ganis
use footy and knights to kill house meanwhile
with a good microgestion you can finish it in 5-6mn! gl!

But ur base will be destroyed in 5 mins if u will use this strat

In the original yes, in the reforged it won’t happen if you pay attention to incoming enemies. It starts hard because your initial force will get hit hard by the infernal but if you just put 2 or 3 towers at the entrance of your base and make sure your new units have their rally point in front of it. This should keep most of your base clear. Once you start pooping out knights everything will be fine. 3 knights can easily solo houses+ the zombies on their own. So you can just sent a few groups to different places. I only had to kill malganis twice before he could not possibly catch up anymore because i had 3 groups of knights/arthas clearing houses way faster.

And the purple attack wave going for your base seemed to get confused when they get attacked and pulled away from their route

There’s a lot of things different about this map in Reforged. I don’t remember Mal’Ganis dropping an infernal on you at all, and I don’t remember the attacks on your base being this frequent on hard.

It is actually magnitudes harder than the original culling.

There is one entrance to your base, but somehow UD will spawn on the other side.

Edit: Apparently there’s a bug with the purp UD spawns in this patch, so people who have cleared it before this patch should replay it and see what’s going on. Currently it’s very easy to lose the game to a deathball even before you reach t3.

yeah by the way, this current patch on hard this strategy would not work because 6-10 mins in your base gets hit by a purp UD deathball.

i literally didnt see your base get hit once LOL.

It seems that these 2 spawning spots were added to the game very recently. If you only defend the gate you are pretty much screwed. I ended up using the strategy in the picture and finally got the level cleared.

That’s outrageous you need to do that though. I still maintain it’s a poor change to an otherwise good mission in TFT. The map layout is bad too, way too easy to speedrun on normal and prolly pre 1.32.2 hard.

So is there a way to survive the double spawn point and finish the level? Feels like I can’t do both.

Thanks a lot for this. I was struggling so hard with those spawns. Watched some videos that people made saying it was easy. They had no spawns at all and none from the west side. Beat it using this strat, but juuuuust. lol

I made a post on this exact topic a couple of days beforehand (link below), so a bunch of other people have the same exact issue (I see Talons is proactive on this post as well). For those looking to beat the mission with all of the ridiculous bugs in tact, I somehow managed to beat it with a strategy that takes advantage of another bug that exists in the mission (described in my linked post). Either way though, the mission is currently ruined by bugs…

he shouldn’t even summon Infernals; lorewise the Legion wasn’t summoned yet
