Thanks for the new patch

Thanks for adding back the classic RoC / TFT backgrounds, that’s a step back in the right direction,
you now only need to restore:

-classic UI
-classic channels
-classic clan system
-reconnection feature
-Reign of Chaos ladder
-classic matchmaking and ladder system
-classic region gates
-… you now what, just roll back to pre-reforged, will you?

For some reason, I start every game zoomed in all the way now, with no way to zoom out. None of the normal commands work, I’m just stuck zoomed in to the max making every game unplayable. Can anyone help?

no one will use them

no one cares about this

Everything you say no one cares about actually does nothing. I’m tired of people like you and others telling us what we “need.” These changes they make are just to please you. The real problem—and the reason the player base is so small—is Battle.net. More people on Battle.net means more people in custom games. But of course, that’s the one thing they’ll never fix.

I’ve been asking for timeouts for leavers and better matchmaking since 2019, and the level system is still broken. Average players are stuck at level 0, and nothing is being done about it.

Considering we get fixes every patch, yeah, they’re doing something. Is it enough? not yet.

they know that if things don’t get fixed, people will leave for good eventually.

but we don’t need crap like channels no one will use, RoC ladder that no one will play, and other random miscellanea that no one will touch.

Technical fixes first, balance second, everything else later.

RoC is gone and never coming back, that’s pretty obvious considering even the campaign uses TFT values.

Do you really think they’re fixing anything meaningful? If they actually cared about fixing the game, they would’ve done it years ago.

They know what the problems are:

  • Broken matchmaking
  • No timeout or punishment for leavers
  • Level system completely messed up
  • Battle.net (which IS multiplayer) is nearly empty

But they won’t fix any of that. Why? Because the moment multiplayer is active again, more people return, and then more people start complaining about the state of the game. That means more eyes on their failures, more pressure to actually maintain things. They don’t want that. They want low effort, low visibility, and they’ll keep pushing updates that look like progress but do absolutely nothing.

They go in, click something random with one hand, break a sound file or adjust a tree in the campaign, then patch it and call it an “update.” Meanwhile, they’re smoking and dragging their feet while doing the absolute minimum. It’s insulting.

They know exactly what would bring people back:

  • Fix Battle.net (aka multiplayer)
  • Add timeouts and penalties
  • Make matchmaking actually work

But they’ll never do that. Because if the game comes back to life, they’ll have to actually work to keep it alive.

Right now, they’re doing just enough to say “we’re supporting the game” while avoiding the real problems we’ve been pointing out since 2019. Fixing a sound bug or resizing a tree doesn’t help anyone. Fixing Battle.net would.

Quoting a wise sage here

RoC multiplayer is available on W3Champions. It’s more than enough for the few dozen people who play it.

The campaign has always used the values from something like July 2003 - check the pre-Reforged patch, the casters already have the magic damage type which was only added with TFT.

Only thing I really see any chance of being added is the reconnection feature. And even then it seems like a thing coming long in the future.

The game never had a reconnect feature. you cant restore what never existed.

It should have one, and it was considered during original development, but never made.

Note
“Waiting for Players” is not a reconnect feature. A reconnect feature would mean being able to rejoin the game after crashing or completely disconnecting or something like that. “Waiting for players,” aside from only helping in the case of very minor connection issues, was entirely useless because if it took you more than a few seconds to stabilize enemy players would almost certainly immediately drop you once possible. Add to this the frequent game stoppage when someone has a crap connection and it really just sucks.

nonsense, there’s barely anyone playing 3v3 on W3Champions, does that mean no one plays it on bnet?

well ppl do, but the lack of activity on w3c does tell me the most serious players aren’t interested.
