with this new matchmaking system, i am able to find games much quicker and im winning most of my games… the old matchmaking system was based on a forced winrate system, with long search times and bad games… im glad you got rid of it, now we can finally find games and have a fair chance of winning without being forced to lose 50% of our games.
Interesting, been playing mostly custom games lately, I should try this out.
On what is based the matchmaking now?
The matchmaking is very poor.
Nearly every single team-game is decided by either level 1 accounts afk’ing / teamkilling / leaving OR the game is decided by one very extremely bad player who suicides and leaves.
The matchmaking right now is worse than it ever was, because 90% of the games are complete and utter time waste nonsense, there is no challenge or fun in having an 8 player game decided by one very bad person who shouldn’t be in a ‘high elo’ game in the first place.
It would be very easy to improve the current matchmaking. As currently it can kick you into a game (with level 1’s, with noobs, regardless of your own stats) within 10 seconds.
And that makes for 90% boring games.
Just because the combined ‘elo’ of my team is similar to the enemy team doesn’t mean the game is balanced or fair now. In team-games, if possible, every player should be close (or as close as possible) to each other, not a 10% w/r with a 60% vs a 20% with a 50%…
What it should be doing is, after you start searching for a game, for 1~2 minutes AT LEAST you should only be able to find a game with people close to your own stats/elo. Then after those 1-2 minutes your matchmaking range would widen, and you would be able to find games with people slightly worse or better than around your elo. And finally after 1-2 more minutes, allow you to find games with basically anyone.
At least this way we have a real chance to find games with people around our own skill/intellect. And for the people who want to avoid noobgames, they could simply re-search after 2minutes.
Nobody in a healthy state of mind would be happy with the current matchmaking, its a very poor and very rushed system. Sometimes I wonder if there even is matchmaking AT ALL when it kicks me into games in 10 seconds with lvl 1 afk’er accounts, while i have 66%+ 250+games
I think you are right on this. Somewhere along the way with these god awful patches I think I read in the patch notes that elo or level or stats or whatever the old system was based on was discarded. Now it basically just matches you with anybody in the cue. Basically it’s sacrificing game quality/evenness for being able to quickly find a game. Not sure what their future plans are on this front or if there are any.
The matchmaking system is pretty much open to everyone now, regardless of whether they have good or bad stats. Anyone gets a fair chance of doing their best and winning their games.
With the old system, people who won (or lost) too many games couldnt find any matches because the system didnt know who to match them with.
Im glad they got rid of it.

50% winrate is a sing of good matchmaking…
Long search times and being forced to lose 50% of your games is a sign of a bad matchmaking system.
Literally no mordern matchmaking system uses this. Go figure out why.
