Please listen to your player base when we ask you to back peddle on your plans to change up dialogue and work WoW’s retcons into the game. We love Warcraft III for what it already was, not what WoW has changed in terms of lore.

They’re keeping the optional old audio. I assume that means the original dialog is unchanged.
Separately, I think one of the devs mentioned in an interview that they way they see it is that WoW isn’t really the “sequel” to WarCraft 3. But they’re giving some “nods” to characters and details that became significant in WoW. And that they weren’t looking to retcon like major parts of the plot.
All they are doing is making places and events that took place more in-line with what is presented in WoW.
So whatever is going to be “destroyed” is already destroyed by your definition.
Now stop QQing.
PS. Blizzard is probably going to replace this absolutely epic cinematic moment /s

You know… something that was just a simple mission event in WC3 became one of the most powerful moments in Warcraft lore and Christie Golden is now suppose to deliver on that.
I do not know how this “destroys” anything since all major points are set in stone by WoW so the question is how she will deliver it in WC3.
Skull of Gul’dan is consumed in wc3, in WoW Illidan holds onto it.
Broken Shore is completly different in WoW to how it is shown in WC3, so is the Tomb of Sargaras. Suramar itself is naga ruins, in WoW it is a huge Nightborne City.
Chen Stormstout is from Pandaria in Warcraft III, in WoW he has never been to Pandaria.
The Broken and the Draenai, also Draenai were Shamans not Paladins according to the manuel.
Outland is basically just Hellfire, and the Black Temple is located within Hellfire not Shadowmoon Vally in wc3.
Sargaras is corrupted by the Eradar in wc3, in WoW it is the opposite.
Frostmourne was created by the Dreadlords, in WC3 it was created by The Lich King.
There’s more of course but that’s what I can think of off the top of my head. Most of the changes here are stuff I really wouldn’t care if they changed to fit WoW, but I know that some would. I also don’t really trust Golden to change the story more then that however as the amount of stupid things that are written in “Before the Storm” have really put me off her for now.
You are seriously worried about those changes? Maybe you should just stick with the original campaign then, and let us have our new campaign.
I don’t get it. What’s so super holy about WC3 that it cannot be changed at all? I get that if they like planned to change that Arthas never became Lich King, that would be a major change, but little tweaks like that, how is it going to ruin the story?
I’m sorry but that’s about as cinematic as a school Christmas concert. I’m a fan of the game but that machinima style worked at the time. These days it’s comedic. I like the part where Arthas gets halfway through one cycle of his run animation, bumbles into the farm, slides into Sylvanas after she fires one frost arrow, Arthas doesn’t even play his attack animation, and Sylvanas flops over. I don’t think the term “epic” fits the bill in that example.
I’ll take whatever the Reforged update is without even seeing it yet, myself.
Thats one of the major wc3 plot holes, as the Black Temple was always supposed to be on Shadowmoon, just take a look at old WC2 maps. If they move the Magtheridon mission to Shadowmoon I woud not mind a all, because thats the real lore.
Some people seem to want models updated and everything else remain the same but people like Christie are being brought on board to re-write events like that… thing.
I’ll still keep my fingers crossed, till the day of the release, that they don’t change the Broken Isles to fit WoW, upres de graphics, add another island, merge the places in a satisfactory way, but please keep the Sunken Ruins tileset and don’t show any of that bullsh*t that appeared in Legion.
In regards to what the Broken Shore looks like, I always felt it was implied that it became that way AFTER demons started spilling out of the temple. Showing just how quickly they were spreading and taking control.
Addressing the OP though, Golden and the Classic team have stated they don’t want to make drastic changes, merely a few added lines here and there that add more context, not add new characters and quest lines. I’m sure some lines will be altered, but there will be no drastic changes.
Also keep in mind the old audio will be available, which means you if really can’t stand any change what so ever, then you can choose that.
Also, for what it’s worth I really like what Christie Golden had to say in her interview. I was worried about what they’d do the the story because how WoW screwed over a lot of it (Kael’thas and Illidan especially). I actually teared up when she was talking about Arthas and Jaina. I think she respects the IP.

Parts of the campaign are a bit of a mess when I think about it. Christie Golden is clearly a good story teller, and I think between her and the devs they will do a good job with the capaign. I’m really looking forward to the result.
