Stupid build 22490 completely kills custom maps

In an attempt to make Warcraft 3 even worse than it already is and make us all hate this stupid company more than we already do, the latest build 22490 patch has completely ruined custom maps - specifically:

Legion TD. All unit upgrade costs are incorrect, rendering the map entirely unplayable.

Of course, the ACTUAL patch notes are nowhere to be found - apparently that’s not part of your release cycle, but I’m forced to download a patch that breaks the game RIGHT as people are leaving for Christmas vacation, so it’s probably not going to get fixed.

I swear, I don’t know if Blizzard can get any stupider and more useless than they already are. At this point, can you guys just STOP making patches at all to this game and open source it so people who have completed primary school can get in and fix this monstrosity that you’ve forced us all to load onto our computers

Unit upgrde costs are something that has worked fine for the last 400 years, but 5 days before Christmas Blizzard has decided to break it. Do you have any actual people that play Warcraft 3 on your dev team, or have you guys outsourced every single thing possible to a room full of monkeys with keyboards?

I feel so bad for the people who actually built this game… for the years of tears and hard work and sweat they put into this, only for you to drag their names through the mud and destroy their legacy. You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

I found out the reason why and made a forum post about it. tl;dr, the “Use relative upgrade costs” got forcibly changed from “false” to “true” and was applied to all units and buildings. It’s really bad, especially for tower defense maps.

+1 I’m seeing this issue. The default value was changed it looks like and need to be reverted to fix this.

Also, Item stack values have been messed with in my map. Items that used to have a stack count not longer have a stack number.

You mean it ruined “A” custom map.
If you’re going to say it ruined everything, you could list more than one.

Granted, there almost assuredly is, but if you only want to talk about one thing you don’t use plurals.

Yes, I know LTD is like one of the most popular custom games out there. But there do exist others.

Also the statement that there was no patch notes for this build is false

Since this specifically pertains to custom games, I think we have the culprit.

It’s affecting ALL custom games, not just Legion TD. Survival Chaos, WoR, DOTA, anything with gold and wood costs is getting shafted right now.

Eh, probably. I just wish people didn’t act like only one map is being affected. It doesn’t grab headlines or eyes, it just looks like whiny complaining, and not something relevant to Blizzard, directly.

Which was the whole reason behind my response. We’re far more likely to get better results by painting situations accurately and truthfully and without hostile behavior.

He is correct, though.

It’s a known fact that they want to kill the only free game left If they don’t make money.
They want to force ppl to give up this game that is free and play their other crap games that charge for everything.
It’s all about the money they take from kids who steal from their parents to buy crap in games.
As a suggestion, stop hiring incompetents from India and China with fake degrees that says software developer and use AI. It’s cheaper and much more efficient

That paid actor literallly suggested when 2.0 happened to just rebuild the map from scratch. He obviously doesnt play the game at all.

Custom maps are not Blizzard’s responsibility. Expecting them to make changes that fix a particular map is foolish. Rebuilding the map is a solid idea, if time consuming.

Okay, but. After some light digging, the problem is something Blizzard caused, by forcing ALL custom maps to use a toggle that was previously ‘opt in’ to being now ‘opt out’. Blizzard just FORCED every map creator to manually update their maps because someone made a change that wasn’t documented ANYWHERE.

That’s a “bruh” moment if ever there was one.

OP is on-point and making an observation with a pretty good educated guess that if one custom map’s resource costs are messed up it probably affects all others. And guess what, not only is the guess pretty good given how the map editor works, it is also a correct guess. His job isn’t to go test multiple custom maps so he can satisfy your arbitrary personal requirements on what should be in his post. :man_facepalming:

This is a solid blunder for the Reforged dev team

it’s bigger than that. they deleted the folder that contains all the files used for the default balance option, forcing all maps to latest patch balance. this also removed all of the .ai files, which, if I’m not mistaken, affects the campaign as well. I’m gonna find out.

edit: campaign and melee ai still runs acceptably, haven’t done extensive testing to see if there are differences between ai behaviors on this patch vs previous patches though

At this point I have to make a formal petition to just revert the game back to the patch before 2.0, 2.0 has been a disaster for the game in every aspect. Reforged was bad, yes, but it was semi-stabilized painfully over several years, why break it again.
