Still Missing Features from 4 years ago

Hi,

Why are we still not alerted when someone joins or creates a game on your friends list?
Please bring back /f l, /f m, and the channel system… literal core parts of the game. In addition to /w and being able to /w anyone.

You also can’t stop a countdown after starting a game as host.

None of this is features the game had 4 years ago.

I’m not aware of this ever being a thing, and I played since the original beta.

Yes, you can, if you click within the first 3 seconds. This is exactly the same behavior as the game always had.

The game is not missing any features anymore. Tons of bugs, sure. But all of the old features have been restored at this point- the last patch restored multiplayer game saves.

the friend list commands you describe are old battle.net features, not Warcraft 3 features. And the game uses the New battle.net system now which is mostly not operated by text commands (other than typing /w to whisper etc.)

Not sure why you’d want to list your friends with a text command when the friend list is always visible in the menus- and in more places/times than in the original game.

The channel system still exists, including clan channels. Do you need glasses? See that shiny “JOIN CHANNEL” button in the chat interface? It’s also technically the Create Channel button, you just type in anything. it’s created if it doesn’t exist and it joins if it does.

Just saw this… I highly question if you’ve supposedly played “since beta” and you somehow did not know that it alerts you everytime a friend joins a game since the beginning of wc3. You need mutual friends which you likely didn’t have: https://imgur.com/a/9Gld38Q

You have to have 0 iq points to think the current “channel system” and “new battle.net system” is anything alike or better than the previous one. Listing your friends is the least useful feature, it’s being able to message your friends with one command and see the games they join so you can follow. I get that you somehow did not have a single mutual friend, but trust me, it was the best part of Warcraft 3. And also, you can’t even whisper people the same way you could because of the ridiculous real ID names and configurations. Hence, why I suggested to have a username that would be like your “character name” separate from real ID.

Well I did. Sorry to disappoint you. The game never gave me these alerts. Maybe my client was bugged, I don’t know, but this never happened.

Making childish insults discredits anything you might have to say, and will just get your posts flagged.

You can do this in W3R and have been able to since it came out, as it uses battle/net’s friend system and you can just direct message them anyway, independently of the game itself regardless.

Adding friends is ridiculously easy. You want to insult other people as “stupid” but you can’t handle this?

Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it lol

Most old Battle.net games had join game messages. There’s no way you didn’t know this if you played back then. No “Maybe my client was bugged” excuse lol.

Regardless, I think there are ways to solve these things without reverting to /f l and /f m. They could just add a modern friends list and chat like Starcraft 2 has.

Captainjack probably never saw the messages because no one added him as friend. We all know you had to be mutual friends on wc3 to be able to see the Friend joined messages.

Yes, and asking if I needed glasses wasn’t a childish insult right? I believe you were the one who dished it out.

Yeah dude, your client was totally “bugged” for 20 years. It wasn’t that you have poor memory or are just plain wrong. Nah, it was a “bug”. Lol. The lengths people like you go to refuse to admit they are ever wrong is wild.

Idk how else to say this. But having to add ANYONE to whisper them is extremely limiting and restricting as opposed to just being able to do it freely and with ease before. You legit can’t whisper people if they don’t accept it, that is restriction by nature and far worse than the game was before.

You can’t message your WC3 friends with one feature, not sure what you are talking about? You can use the BNET “Broadcast” but no one can see that as easily and it broadcasts to EVERY PERSON PLAYING A GAME. :man_facepalming:
