Dear Blizzard, do you have any plans to release this game on Steam?
As a huge Overwatch 2 fan (yea, we exist) I’ve noticed huge growth in the number of players after Steam release and this got me thinking about Steam release of WC3: Reforged.
It could save the game from stagnation and small player base. More people means more money and you guys love it, so why not? Everyone would be happy. Also some achievements would be great.

I rather doubt it, they’re only going to lift a finger to release a game on steam if it’s going to make them money. Even if they fix every issue with war3, it still isn’t going to make them much money to put it on steam, plus it will just get review bombed like every other game they put on Steam.
To be fair, OW2 kinda deserved it; but I don’t think D4 did, quite frankly I really enjoy D4 and the only bad thing I can say about is how greedy the monetization is.
They knew for sure that this would happen with D4 after OW2 release but they still released it. Yeah, review bombing is bad, but 70 bucks is 70 bucks.
So, maybe they don’t even care about reviews nowadays (or they’re just too much optimistic). Anyways, if there’s any chance they put this game on Steam it would be great
I find ranting about AAA game prices (in a vacuum at least) silly. Regular prices on major games has only increased slightly in 40+ years, while there’s been plenty of inflation during that time. $70 buys a lot less now than $60 did in the 90s. I can far more easily afford to buy a new game today, even at a $10 higher price point, than I could 20 years ago.
No, the issue, if anything, is paying for a full price game and still having ioverly greedy monetization inside. I’m not completely against add-ons and vanity crap, but D4 (and OW2, to be fair) both ask quite a bit more for these things than most other games do, they are really testing the limits of what they can get away with.
But you can ignore the monetization and have a great time with the game, so I think it’s a little unfair to bomb a good game because money.
The only way I would see the game receiving would be the same treatment Diablo 4 got, with even more backlash on top.
The fact that they don’t allow you to get the same game on Steam if you own it on Bnet is staggering.
OW2 got review bombed far, far harder than D4 did.
Because D4 is actually a good game underneath the greedy monetization and launch issues.
Not after the patch 1.1 changes, it wasn’t…
Sadly speaking from experience.
Current season is way better than the first one in just about every possible way. And most importantly, if you have an escape scroll, disconnecting in hardcore is no longer likely to have you end up dead when you come back.
I’d like to add my voice to the number of people who’d like to have this released on Steam, might even buy it if that’s the case. I was holding off to see how improved this release would get before deciding on getting it. But adding it to my steam library is a plus on my book.
I eman you can already do that by going to the menu and pressing “Add non steam game”
Which gives you pretty much everything steam has except achievements.
It’s not like Blizzard doesn’t get money if you buy it in something other than their own shop.
it is likely to be released but, it is not as easy as releasing the 2 others. in order to release warcraft 3, they need to make sure that they add all features through steam. just be patient.
