Small and quick tweaks Blizzard can do to make Reforged Campaigns better (for me at least)

Just wanted to post four small and quick tweaks Blizzard could do to improve the Campaign experience (for me at least), besides bug fixing and performance optimization of course:

  • Add hero glow to Medivh in both Human and Raven form to make him look more important and powerful. (he’s only the most powerful Wizard in the world and the person who started the whole story)

  • In The Last Guardian interlude, Eternity’s End Campaign (RoC Night Elf), change Tharifas with a Red Dragon. (it was confirmed in the lore, even before Warcraft 3 came out, that Alexstrasza’s Red Dragonflight was enslaved by the orcs and forced to fight for the Horde, not Ysera’s Green Dragonflight)

  • In Gates of the Abyss, chapter 5 of TfT Blood Elf Campaign (Curse of the Blood Elves) change Red Dragons with Black Dragons. (guess I’m just the sucker for Dragon lore)

  • In Dustwallow Marsh, map of chapter 2 (Old Hatreds) of Founding of Durotar Campaign, change the Ogre Chiftain’s tents with Centaur Tents like the other Ogress have. (looks really bad when they’re using Draenei tents, makes no sense)

And things that Blizzard could change, but aren’t that small, thought why not post them just in case:

  • Remove Dragon Eggs from the Undead Boneyard. (honestly that makes as much sense as Vashj’s human ears, if not even more)

  • Return Banshee’s datamined skin. With the purple dress and black hair. Looked so much better, imo. This one is colorless and boring, like ghost creeps, looks way too ethereal. The original, that was datamined, looked far scarier and a lot more in line with the Undead vibe in both Warcraft 3 and WoW.

  • Return the colors and whips to the Succubusses like the ones that were datamined. I mean c’mon they looked so awesome and would’ve been a perfect Warlock minion in Custom games, they looked totally like their WoW counterparts.

  • Swap the Doomguard models, make the current creep Doomguard model a summonable Doomguard model, and return the Doomguard Creep that was datamined. Imo it looked so cool with Demonic Hammer and much better horns.

  • Add a Blood Elf skin to the High Elven Archer and make Swordmen and Archers use Blood Elven skins in Blood Elf TfT Campaign.

  • Add a High Elf skin to the Blood Elf Lieutenants and replace Human Captains with them in The Fall of Silvermoon, chapter 5 in RoC Undead Campaign (Path of the Damned).

  • If possible, make Blood Elves use more Elven buildings in TfT Blood Elf Campaign from chapter 2 onwards, like Elven farms and towers.

  • If possible add some Draenei Tents to the Draenei base in Gates of the Abyss instead of Ogres using them in The Founding of Durotar Campaign.

  • Many towers need new models, like the Draenei Tower, or the Death Tower in Black Temple, and especially the Boulder Tower, make it look something more like in Classic, the Elven look doesn’t really fit for any of them and the Classic lookish Boulder Tower would be really useful in Custom Games.

  • Bring back datamined models of standing Furion, Malfurion and Tyrande and use them in some interludes, with full animations of course and Tyrande using High Elf Sylvanas animations. Most of all they would’ve been useful in Custom Games.

  • Add full animations to standing Thrall. If it would be cheaper and faster, I wouldn’t mind reusing HotS animations. Like above most of all it would’ve been useful in Custom Games.

  • And finally if possible, add the option to use the High Elves in Human melee games. The consept of Blood Elves fighting in the Alliance did not age well exactelly. Sorceress, Priest and Dragonhawk Rider already have High Elf skins. The only problem are the Blood Mage and the Spellbreaker. I don’t see a reason why the Blood Mage can’t be a High Elf, while High Elven Spellbreaker wouldn’t make much sense lore wise, so maybe give him a human skin.

Yeah, the problem here you see is actually very simple: you are assuming that Blizzard has read the lore, rookie mistake.

I feel like in gates of the abyss the red orcs should be using netherdrakes instead of red or black ones.

I too agree that the draenei need their own builder tower model especially since they really do look like blood elf only towers.

With the amount of detail they put into all the unique models, and even giving most, if not all, the creep buildings some basic build animations, I’m surprised that they didn’t opt for simply having both blue eyed and green eyed variants of all the elven units. Especially for the swordsmen and archers since they were featured in both RoC and TFT. And yeah they should have used blue eyed lieutenants or spellbreakers instead of captains in silvermoon.

I too noticed the Stonemaul ogres using draenei buildings. I figured it was an oversight since in classic the giant mushroom buildings fit in better.

I feel like in gates of the abyss the red orcs should be using netherdrakes instead of red or black ones.

Nether Dragons are already heavily present in the map, as Creeps in front of the Demon Gates and as Demons coming out from the game. (though that too doesn’t make a lot of sense lore wise). Iirc they have different stats and abilities than the other Dragons, while Black Dragons are Red Dragons with a different model. So for balance reasons I get why they aren’t Nether Dragons. However lore wise they should be Black Dragons. No Red Dragons were in Outland. The Dragons that went to Outland were Deathwing’s Black Dragons. Deathwing took them to Outland to hide, because he realized that the Horde lost the war and that the Alliance and the Red Dragonflight (which would set itself free eventually) would retaliate and that he would stand no chance (Red Dragonflight outnumbering Black almost 100:1). Deathwing even sold many of his Dragons as slaves to the Orcs, so from that perspective it would also make perfect sense lore wise.

Especially for the swordsmen and archers since they were featured in both RoC and TFT.

There actually is a Blood Elf Swordsmen in the editor, with green eyes and red armor, but not the Archer.
