Should knights be given helmets?

Now that footmen looks insanely powerful compared to the old version, I was wondering if knights shouldn’t have been given helmets? They look kinda “naked” and weak without them ( IMO).

In classic Warcraft 3 knights don’t have helmets and I think it should stay like that. However I would add morde gold details into the models.
Also footmen look like knights without horse. Their armor is too shiny and well made for the most basic human units.

But that’s how they look in the cinematics!

Also, I don’t get what you mean by “too shiny”. The metal looks grey in Reforged (realistic), whereas it was bright white in the original (cartoony, shiny). I like the new look, but it is true that we need practice to know whether they’ll be distinguishable enough.

@OP No helmets. Helmets are for the footies. Plus, the Knights look armored as they are.

I am for Helmets. This is not Warhammer 40.000 where the commanding Astartes are running without helmets to say to the enemies: “Hey you filthy Xenos and Heretics, I bet you are all crappy loser shooters without snipers who are unable to even hit the leaders in the head.”

Agree. And I have a thread about that.

But it’s a cinematic. They try to show the most impressive version there.

Going back to the topic, I prefer knights as they are: without helmet and those rude faces

Knights have one of the most unique faces in the game and a knight with helmet is basically Garithos

WarCraft II had knights with full helm like footmen in WCIII.

Footmen had open helmets, it was before fancyness was a thing. Heroes without helmet. Because their skulls are so thick they dont need a helm.

I say keep the helmet off the knights. It just doesn’t feel right to remove one of the core things that makes you distinguish between footmen and knights (it is a core thing for the unit icons, anyway)

I’ve always liked the WC3 knights. Granted I wish they had the voices of the WC2 knights back in the day because that voice was amazing. But if they had a helmet we wouldn’t be able to see their wicked sweet moustaches.

If anything I’d like to see their wreath thing be a teensy bit more prominent than just being a gold band around the back and sides of their head.

but garithos had that large axe instead of a sword.
Anyway, why not add a variety in helmet and weapons.

The point of having a helmet in combat is to prevent your enemy from attacking your unprotected head, Being mounted on a Horde makes it impossible to aim for the horde against your ordinary enemy. Thus these knights do not need helmets.

I think it would make more sense… maybe not full helm like footies, but some sort of cap or something.

Either that or add in chance for OHK from archers/riflemen/headhunters/crypt fiends… >_<
