Should I Get This Game Just For The Custom Games?

Is it worth it just for the custom games and are there groups that play together?

for now not, game is laggy, problems with hosting games and joining a lot of crashes when playing custom games or trigers or dodats not working in middle of map.

SO wait month or two

Don’t buy it nobody knows the customs they are playing, will leave after 3 minutes in, and people are posting outdated custom games which I can’t understand.

Don’t at least not yet. There are too many de-syncs an other glitches. I also purchased for the custom games and that was my experience.

Give it a little time imo, see how blizz handles the current problems.

I say not.

the Custom game terms of service thing will Kill most modder’s drive to actually make custom games.

all that exists would be what already did, and alot of them are broken/banned since the launch

YES. People played the customs maps of the old warcraft 3 for over a decade and they’re still playing them in reforged. With things like texture resolutions and model size limits being updated the art quality on custom content CAN* skyrocket. This depends on the community though. Don’t listen to the negative people on this. The custom games are very popular and will always be.

The current problem with custom games, at the moment, is that, unlike what Blizzard advertised, most of the old maps have a really hard time to work, and when they do, they fail to do it properly.

As for new content, there is some raising in spite of the outrage the new EULA has caused. With time people will still create content for the game. But the problem is that Regorge map-making faces new challenges. Some things don’t work anymore, some other things are simply bugged with no workaround, and some things work but are much more complicated to achieve, and it is really hard for people who want to provide good content to create polished and stable maps in this context.
it will take time, but it will happen.

My best advice is : if you are not sure, don’t buy it… yet. Watch out and see if Blizzards keep patching bugs and tries so make up for all the fanbase disappointment. Note that in this perspective, trying is actually even more important than succeeding, because it is a proof of good will.

In the meantime, be patient.

I gues the costum game Community isnt dead. I work on a CooP Map like Starcraft 2 Coop Mission games. I think i am not the only dude there create a map 4 the Community. Greetings from germany

Well actually not. Now days just like youtube everyone wanna make money… The old days are gone when people uploaded videos without monetization it was the same for the Warcraft 3 maps, but now everyone just want to make cash.

Me and my team are hardly working for ambitious project and since my funds are being used for development and I seek no profit but to get entertainment and bring more people to the game and prove that there is still people that just want to enjoy entertainment. At moment old maps are so boring for me. So what I do? I chill and co-op with my team to build Multiplayer Campaign type Role-Playing Battleground.

Nobody ever made videos without monetization. In the old days it was just way harder to become a YouTube partner. Why would anyone spend hours a day for your entertainment without making money off of it? Makes no sense…

if you expect people to work for free for you, you are the problem, not them.

then stop complain about EULA make your own game then profit of something you build. Since most map makers want to make games for profit they can build games on their own without blizzard product.

I don’t develop my current map for income even if I am far from wealthy.
I just do it for fun, and I know many more map makers are in the same state of mind !

I#ve never complained about the EULA. Every EULA looks the same, that’s just how it is. You use Blizzard assets to create a game so naturally they own it. If you wanna make your own game use you own assets. Art is like 90% of the cost in game development if you use a third party game engine.

I’d be okay with them fixing the game mechanics and leaving the art up to the fans.

What’s the point of a classic graphics overhaul if they don’t work on the graphics? That’s the whole point.

nah, modernizing the game mechanics is more important, the game is generally played from a pretty high up overhead perspective so you really don’t even notce lower polycount models most of the time. It’s nice to have high polycount models and great animations but really game mechanics, improved UI, and general polish go further for anyone not playing all the way zoomed in lol

The idea of reforged and any other classic game revamp, is to not change game mechanics and just improve graphics quality to make it run on modern PCs. That’s what reforged is. If you want something else, wait for Warcraft 4 or play another game. Playing on a 10 year old 1080p monitor you will probably not appreciate Reforged as much, but playing on a 27" 4K monitor makes a world of a difference.

I have to 100% agree with kicka55 on this one,
Although I have always loved the game back in the early 200’s, I really started hating the old graphics, as it became harder and harder to convince my brain that a group of 12 triangles was a hero.

Like many others, I am very disappointed with what we got, even if I still keep working hard on my map. But as I am not a melee player at all, I have never been disappointed with the new visuals of the game. Or at least for a majority of the models.

Revamping a game while keeping the old low res graphics would be kind of an insult.
