Server stability

Good day!

I’m writing this in hopes that it will catch traction in the Blizzard community and maybe even get dev input. I’ve played Warcraft 3 since release and online play off and on for around 16 years or so. During my time as an online gamer, I came to hate my connection at the time and loathe downloading anything, but there was a screen that would pop up if someone had a temporary disconnect in service and/or lag. It gave us a minute for our connection to get better before players had the option of kicking us. Yes it was very annoying, but it was great because there was some slack to be given.

Fast forward to December 2018 and through some updates, I don’t see that slack anymore. I live in a rural area where I have internet via microwave relay dishes (archaic by today’s standards I know). My particular dish relay is in a tree, this poses a few problems but for the most part my connection is more or less stable. There are times, however, that my connection experiences loss of packets for up to 15 seconds maximum. Anything over 2 seconds and I’ve lost connection to the game, goodbye hours of stability and fun, hello dice roll if I get to stay.

I know I’m not the only one that has occasional hiccups in service. You can be fiber lined in and still have a problem. That’s what our problem is, here is how it affects Blizzard, Warcraft 3, and Warcraft Reforged.

We need server stability!!! There are plenty of other games that have setups where the player with the problem is the only problem. In Warcraft 3, a player with a problem is everyone’s problem. I play a lot of custom maps, namely Twilight’s Eve. Imagine playing the healer for the group and going through the hardest content the custom map has to offer, things are going great and then your game freezes for 1 second…uh oh, I almost disconnected…another one happens, this time for 2-3 seconds…YEAH!!! Scorescreen, and whats this?? I get kicked off Battlenet completely!!!

I don’t mean to come off in a negative fashion, but I’m trying to address is in terms that people will understand. As a player, I could understand playing a ranked match made game and being at a disadvantage because I lagged for a few seconds, but as it currently stands its pretty much an auto loss. This is a rather large problem for the future of the game with the coming release.

I hope that my insight can prompt the developers to thing of an innovative or even a retroactive solution to this problem.

My sincerest regards to the staff,
Jo

I have similar issue. My custom games can last 16 - 60 minutes and the lag happens I lose battle.net connection. I have contacted today with support team 6 times. I tried every possible option that exist. Tomorrow I reinstall Windows 10 and I also will update router firmware to the latest version including all drivers and stuff and factory reset.
(I did not lose internet connection during the lag from battle.net)

The problem is neither my ISP or support team identify the problem we tested wth MTR Report.
( its a program that when you play a game it shows the detailed information about the connection and all of the sudden I lose 46% packets which leads to lag and losing connection to the battle.net)

I don’t know what causing it but its not good to network issues. It kills all the joy from playing Warcraft 3 and since we don’t have reconnect feature its not fun to play favorite maps anymore. I own NightHawk XR500 Gigabit Router and I have 200Mbps.

While people here hardly waiting for reforged to come I hardly wait for the new patch and I hope I don’t lose connection over and over.
