WC3R, yes. But SCR and SC2, which are both retired, are having recurring issues whose low priority is taking forever to fix. Recently, SC2 even had an exploit that people used to crash the entire game which took a month to fix. I don’t follow D2R at all, and D3 is currently having two on going issures. Both of those are retired too.
So it’s not that WC3R is the only one. It’s more that all the retired games aren’t getting as much attention, which isn’t unexpected with a retired game.
The root issue it that ATVI pulled the plug on the entire Classics project in 2020 (that the public knows about).
When the plug was pulled, SCR had already been out for a while so it was in very decent shape. However, WC3R wasn’t finished when the project was cut off. So it was released in bad shape, and it didn’t have anyone to work on it post-release.
So it’s not so much that WC3R iteslf was screwed over. It’s more that the underlying Classics project was eliminated with no regard as to the condition of the games they were working on.
Exactly:
WC2 lasted more then 15 years of support.
WC3 original again more then 15 years of support.
SC1, SC2 - similar >15 years of support, updates, mods, co-op commanders + maps + mutations.
WC3 Reforged was supported just for 2 (TWO) years then now it seems abandoned.
Is not fair, there are some marketing rules, for exampl, ok not gaming industry but, even Samsung was forced to offer minimum 4 years of updates for every phone, even for cheaper ones. Microsoft is supporting every windows release for minimum 10 years, also his games like AOE, AOM …
Not exactly. It has nothing to do with how long a game is supported. It only has to do with when the decision is made to retire it.
Bliz decided to end the Classics program no matter how new or old the games were.
Comparing other industries isn’t a viable arugument. It’s not one set of rules across all industries.
Problem is, this has all been explained to you many, many, many times, Cat. It’s your prerogative if you don’t want to listen, however, contantly posting about how you think it should work doesn’t change the reality.
