Scrub Question

I know ladder itself isn’t going to be around at launch. And I also haven’t really dove into quick play/unranked in classic Warcraft 3 in a long time (most of melee is just open customs or with friends).

Has there been anything said about matchmaking in general for Reforged’s launch? I’m not the greatest player so it’d be nice to know that any time I queue up, it’s not just to get stomped.

Beta has matchmaking but not a “Ranked Ladder”, meaning the matchmaking system pairs opponents at random. Without any system for checking skill level. If there was no matchmaking at all, then it would be like only being able to join games through the custom games lobby list

Classic has a Ranked Ladder currently, meaning new players match against new players. But if Reforged launches with no matchmaking, a lot of people are going to be unhappy… so I really really hope blizzard will keep the actual official “Classic” version of Bnet running for a while longer (unlike they did with RoC)

When they first announced Reforged, I vaguely remember hearing murmers about Classic profiles being transferred, and some sort of badge to identify longtime players, but Im not exactly sure if any of that will actually be true. I mean our profiles were linked, but I have a feeling stats will be erased and icons will be lost (just like they did to RoC players)

If they do shut off the original TFT servers, and there is no matchmaking available, it will drive a lot of players to private servers.

Its also important to note that Blizzard has struggled to make AT work with the Classic game, they claimed AT would be working last year but it never happened. Now in the beta they had it set so if you played AT you would match against RT players …(AT vs RT)… but thats a horrible way to play as its incredibly unfair for RT players, I really really hope they dont keep that in the final game.

They also told us over a year ago, that they were working to merge the servers, so that USwest/USeast and Euro players would be able to match against each other, but that isnt happening either. They did get it working for Custom Games, but Im 99% sure its not happening for Ladder which really sucks if it doesnt :frowning:

Not much else has been said about ladder though… some rumors came out last year about them changing the inventory system, but I think most people didnt like the idea, so Im not sure if they scrapped it or not (probably though)

Its definitely going to be a rough launch (similar to SCremastered) and it will probably take a few months before we get the full game like its supposed to be… hopefully

I’d say something like “oh well if they just bridge the matchmaking then between Frozen Throne and Reforged” but uh.

You know. Ladder not being around for launch. Hopefully they don’t botch it too hard and there is matchmaking for launch.

(Yeah the AT stuff has just been bizarre across the board.)

originally back in the mid-2000s it was easy to play AT, but sometime around 2010 or so the game required players to open a stupid port under their firewall settings, which a lot of players struggled with. I dont know why it was like that

Then in 2017/18 a bunch of patches started causing even more problems, especially since a lot less people were playing around that time. There was a few weeks where players could not log in at all, and when the servers did come back, the player base shrunk significantly. Thats because many clans lost their ability to login bots. And it became nearly impossible to match AT in the original Bnet. Now some people claim it still works, but you basically need to get 4 guys to all search 2v2 at the same time, and even then its not going to work everytime.

AT really is important to growing/maintaining the community for Ladder players, and its especially important to not allow AT vs RT because it makes it almost impossible to win in RT (which some people enjoy that I suppose but, its still unfair and ruins RT)

WAIT. Ladder isn’t around for launch?

Sorry but lmfao. They should just put back the release date at this point.

well its not 100% official, but its a possible (and likely) outcome. Basically, the release date means they are releasing the campaign, and then they will continue getting multiplayer finished.

The reason being, is because the majority of the player base (for Ladder) is still on the Classic TFT servers, so as long as they dont shut those down, then it doesnt matter if we have to wait a few more weeks (hopefully its not months)

All these articles I’m looking at are garbage and don’t cite their sources and I don’t have the energy tonight to comb through BlizzCon videos.

No ladder on launch. But each race will have their own MMR on your account. So if I were to (somehow) get really high as Orc, but switch to my (even worse) Undead I won’t be facing people at my Orc level.

oh yeah! i remember hearing that, hmmm seems odd, I hope that it doesnt encourage trolling? idk how I feel about it, maybe its a good thing… but it wasnt high up on my list of requests lol
