I just a replay of Lyn vs WFZ where Lyn found three rings of protection in a row on his blademaster, that made me write this topic now, since rings will be buffed.
The blader has 5 base armor and +6 with the rings so 11 in totaly. That will become a total of 14 armor. Well, his blademaster was just level 1.
Every ring will be buffed by +1 bonus armor. That is obviously better for some heros than others. Increasing the EHP by 6% with each point of armor, is especially usefull for strength based heros, even tho it also helps intelligence based heros aswell. My personal opinion, well, I never underrestimated rings, I always thought they are good how they are, but I can understand, that on top level, It can make sense to sell them for momentum, especially teching to T2 or T3. Okay, to be completly honest, selling a ring for just 62 gold, or two rings for 124 gold, I mean giving up survivalbillity on heros just for some sort “being a little faster” was a never a good Idea for my own games, lets say.
The point is, its not that rings doesnt have value, but they can be ignored, unlike claws of attack, which wil get guaranteed value on every attack.
So buffing the ring with more of the same, doesnt get rid of the initial problem , so it would make more sense, to give them +1 intelligence because manaregeneration helps almost every hero. That would probably lead to one bonus spell over the course of a game and its very unlikely that that one can be ignored. A ring of protection +3 could get +2 Intelligence and so on.
And also I tend to think that, if you find two rings of protection +3, which is very likely, a level one hero that just came out from the altar or tavern, with +6 armor and +36% EHP is really tough to deal with. The same goes for a MK who just reached level 3 with +36% bonus HP.
To close the gap between claws and rings, claws could also be changed to +3/+6/+9 bonusdamage.
Well, I can understand the intention behind that buff, but I just wanted to suggest another direction.
