Going by the discussions in the forum over the decision by Blizzard to rollback the changes they were going to make to the WC3 campaign in Reforged to tie in the story with WoW, a popular sentiment expressed by the fans of WC3 classic is that this preserves the hope that WC4 may be made one day.
A genuine question I have about this - as a person who never played WoW and therefore does not know the extent to which the WC story evolved - what is the basis that WC4 will be good? What’s the storyline supposed to be about?
From what I’ve read here, the WoW storyline is terrible and does not deserve to be official canon (although it already is). Alright, let’s say that’s true. Who is going to write a good story for WC4 then, if Blizzard’s writers are not up to the task? Where should the path diverge from WoW? Who’s going to be the big bad in WC4 - without making it Everyone Vs the Burning Legion again?
Just trying to see the merits of not having a Reforged campaign, while not treading on anyone’s toes!
