Resource Management & Tree Question

It’s been a long time since I’ve played, but since the FAQ doesn’t cover it I’d like some clarification on lumber gathering. From what I gathered tree’s have “50” hp. Each HP = 1 unit of lumber. Ghouls gather 2 lumber per swipe, and human / orc 1 per swipe (human can upgrade). I’ve heard the shredder does 10 per swipe.

1st Question: Can the rate of gathering be increased by increasing the attack speed of the unit. Specifically undead ghoul units can be upgraded with ghoul frenzy. Does that also increase their tree gathering speed or just their mobility & damage rate vs other units?

2nd Question: Can you “overharvest” and/or attack trees like the older version of the game. For example if a unit becomes locked behind a recently built structure or I want to carve out an area sooner & am willing to forsake / not gather the wood. Is it possible to have units “target” and damage the trees (even if said unit has maximum carrying capacity). Or for example it used to be possible to destroy trees with catapults & other AOE spells to create secret back doors into enemy bases or get to locked gold mines etc. Is this still possible in reforged?

  1. Nope. It has never and never will be the case (it would be an insane buff to Undeads).

  2. Don’t think it was ever possible to overharvest. It’s a long time since I played WC3, but back when I played I remember ghouls/peasants/peons getting stuck behind trees and not being able to get out if I placed a building too close. It would display a “at maximum capacity” / “cannot reach townhall/lumbermills etc”

  • It is possible that was changed after patch 1.27b as that was when I stopped playing.

You can still use Siege weapons and certain AOE’s to destroy trees (Blood Mage hero Flamestrike can and Keeper of the Groves rely on Tree for Treants).
