Hello, I don’t like downloading Warcraft 3 maps from fishy third-party websites which are also poorly managed. I would like to download custom maps and upload my custom maps to a Blizzard hosted server in-game, where players can browse custom maps and download in-game same way as Starcraft 2 has an in-game map database. Who wouldn’t want this? Then we can easier browse maps, update maps, write changelogs and know who the developer of each map is. We would need tags like “Tower defense, Hero siege, Campaign, Moba, RPG, Mini-game, Melee and Other” as filters, review system and report button for stolen maps. This would also make the game appeal to casual players who don’t know how to download from a website and manually save maps in the correct folder. Basically we need like a Steam workshop inside Warcraft 3 where you download a map and host a lobby with a click of a button like in Starcraft 2.
Regards
Dani

Hello Dani I like your nickname
SC2 Arcade has this Blizzard hosted maps server database but SC2 was entirely built from the beginning around this system.
I don’t see a remake handle such a system while it was released some years ago, it would be a too big change.
Maybe something less heavy, like just downloading maps, and without the integration system with game hosting could be a solution, but still, this is also a big work to do.

This is a good idea in theory, but it would be a large amount of work to implement considering the game never previously had such a feature.
However, the server does keep copies of custom games that people play in order to download them to other users at a reasonable speed, so if you can find anyone else playing the map you want to play, all you have to do is join their game.
It’s not perfectly convenient, but it’s still more than many games had back in the day.
Most third party websites are now broken.
“Epicwar” website is completely broken now, can’t upload any maps and cant enter the website at all during certain days. No way to contact owner who probably died 5 years ago since website is really old. That website should be shutdown or completely remade as there is no way to delete old versions of your map to only have latest version available.
“Warcraft 3 reforged maps” website is broken you can’t create account to manage maps as you get no verification email. Owner not been active for years and didnt share any of his power for others to be able to fix and improve the website.
Only option is to create own website or discord and upload your maps to generic file sharing websites and post links.
Problem with Hiveworkshop is the website has very outdated design since nothing is being improved, that website is currently not good for sharing and uploading maps only for using their forum to ask for mapping help, still a lot of work to manually download and save maps into the correct folder which casual players don’t know how to or people are too lazy to do, third party websites can never be as user-friendly as in-game map database like Starcraft 2.
Then some made their own third party clients to hijack the game only allowing a handful of maps to be played for those who play warcraft 3 through those other clients instead of normal wc3 app in Battlenet desktop app.
Valve made Steam workshop for their games and we still dont have anything like that in Battlenet app or in-game for Warcraft 3? Even Age of Empires has this! Starcraft 2 has it but we dont have it for warcraft 3. This could have been a feature in reforged or recent 2.0 update. Now we must wait probably years to get this.
