Good on them. There is no real way to make up for this disaster. They have boned a classic game so hard that it will be months before it is even up to the standard of the original.
I personally have enough disposable income that I might just end up keeping it, but I’m still not impressed with Blizzard’s miss-handling of the situation.
Not angry at the developers at all though. I think they honestly did the best they could with the cards they were dealt.
I am disappointed with their management, especially with all the QA staff that was let go. And also disappointed with their community team, who absolutely botched their communication of the product changing by letting it quietly be announced at Blizzcon 2019 – which was technically an event that was supposed to be blocked by a pay wall that is about the same price as the game itself.
The game site should never have used false media, especially at release. None of the marketing stuff should use anything from the Blizzcon 2018 demo. This is the definition of a bait and switch.
And it’s stuff like this that will lead to government regulations squirming their way into gaming.
Offering refunds now without challenge is the least they could do to avoid this fate.
