about which Reforged assets I get in the World Editor as a Classic owner.
Not to mention the multitude of problems people actually have been having with the launcher/client, even if they… drumroll… never had those issues before. But that must just be figments of their imaginations, or?
Like? For me it just worked… For the thousands of people playing it right now, it just works. Surely then if it does not just work then the user is kind of at fault? Either that or they are unlucky and have some really obscure hardware…
Classic launcher?! You mean versions before 1.32 right?
Classic just works for most people with 1.32.1. Few people complain about it not working, and it is not the major cause of the refund requests. For those who cannot play classic they either lost their RoC CD key, had their RoC CD key stolen, lack a always online internet connection or are using a very old PC which does not support modern APIs.
Most are relating to Reforged graphics. Most of those players complaining about that can run Classic graphics flawlessly. Just they want a refund because they paid for Reforged graphics which are close to unplayable for them and already owned a RoC CD Key so can keep paying with Classic graphics without owning Reforged.
I’ve finally concluded that the original graphics is way better when you play multiplayer. The units and colors are way better separated and that’s what counts! I play much better and will not switch back. Bye, bye, new graphics!
Agree 100%
Today almost all competitive games got these features to make the game playable and competitive and they are not able to copy them and apply on wc3 reforged.
We are not talking about a Warcraft 4. Only and update to implement all the competitive systems that all other games got.
This thread explained everything I wanted to know. After WC3 “reforged” launch fiasco I never read anything about it, today I wanted to play classic WC3 and the game doesn’t open up, then “update”, then 30gb download on the battle.net client. I really don’t care about space, but the decision is incredibly stupid, the game was already installed and working fine. I bought the original game like 2~3 years ago after pretty much a lifetime of playing it for free (yarr!) and now, even though money for games is not an issue anymore, I don’t see Blizzard having my money that soon. And back to sail the seven seas for playing a game that I own, wow.
If you get past the 30GB download, classic pretty much plays the same as before. The only difference is a few new bugs while some old ones have been fixed.
This is untrue.
Sound has been changed. All non-english voices have been butchered. Battle.net has been downgraded. Versus doesn’t work anymore. W3RC is in no way comparable to the real W3.
And of course all the menus being different and or missing. And the game being unstable to the point they couldn’t even get trough a tournament on the reforged client. But yeah sure “Only a few bug fixes” .
The game at its current state is atrocius at best. It’s literally impossible to have any fun in ladder, even if you love WC3.
Also think about that:
The devs say that they work hard to give people missing features…
Now think about this: ONE PERSON has released a working map and profile mod.
Something the developers could not do. (shame on you!)
This is a greedy cashgrab that ruined WC3 classic as a side effect- nothing more.
The game at its current state is what an early alpha should look like. It’s hard to imagine that anyone who is competent or cares about it is even working on it. it’s mind-boggling how it can be so bad.
Also look at the patches. Minor changes a private modder could do within hours.
Decided today after not touching anything WoW / Warcraft related for quite some time to get back into things - and this is just sickening to read.
The irony of it is I decided to leave HotS and get back into Warcraft because Blizzard decided to skeleton-crew it once it wasn’t making them juicy enough profits, thus making it practically a classic game for it’s own right. Now that I read this… I’m starting to legitimately dislike ActiBlizz. Important to delineate between the Blizzard I have loved growing up. Very sad.
