Question about "Teen Data" - What is it? Google is obv. of no help

I’ve been exploring the new world editor the last few days, and im returning to it after maybe 15 years or so. I am not sure if its a new thing or not, but due to the name Teen Data (on/off) Google provides 0 relevant results… because “Teen” and “Data” are not uncommon together, though I highly doubt it means the same in Warcraft 3.

So the Question is: What is Teen Data, what does it do when on vs. off? and Why should we pick on or off, based on what?

I allready searched Hive forums, and for previous threads here, but got no results. The engine itself does not provide much help or explanation that I can find. So if anyone knows, please help out, if a dev can answer it, This thread might be the one result on google.

So, to help google here is some tags:
What is Teen Data? , What Does Teen Data On do? , Teen Data In Warcraft3 , Teen Data in wc3 , wc3 : reforged , Teendata , wc3 WorldEditor , MapEditor , Map , World , Editor , "Teen Data" , Blizzard

I hope someone can help me solve this puzzle

I was curious about this as well! Bumping for answers!

I use the editor alot, so I want to know aswell

Teen Data is used for usesers having the less gore/violence setting in gameplay enabled. When that option is enabled the game will try to load any data first from the teenData section. Such Teen data should have less blood, is less brutal and so on.
Blizzard probably added that for their default data to match conditions for countries that dislike much violence and to hold the recommented age low.

You can force a teen Data test by changing prefrences - test when testing maps with the editor.

Edit: An SD example: You have 2 skins for human footman. The one you want to be shown for teen you import to “textures/footman.blp” and enable the teen data flag. The other one you also import to “textures/footman.blp” but you don’t set the teen flag. Now the TeenData users will have the Teen Skin while others have the default skin.
