Hear me out here, please.
i do not want the original campaign messed with, the story should remain true to the original warcraft 3 ROC/TFT story
However, i’ve started to ponder the possibility of adding Naga, Demon and Drenai themed campaigns that could take place before, in between and post-the original storyline, along with perhaps some of the original 4 races (Human, Orc, Undead, Night Elf) getting new campaigns that explain how certain characters became who they are and where they are in the current WC3 storyline.
For example, the Demon themed campaign could be all about the invasion of the Eastern Kingdoms, with Tichondrius, Mannoroth and even Archimonde as the main protagonists of that campaign storyline, perhaps even adding in Balnazzar, Dethoroc and Varimathras to an extent - this would be taking place after the original Undead campaign (from ROC) so that we could get a better insight on the devastation that befell the various human cities of Lordaeron and Dalaran after the Legion was unleashed on the world.
Kel’thuzad could have a mini campaign about his story from human mage to exile to necromancer, starting somewhere in Eastern Kingdoms and then traveling to Northrend at the behest of the then-imprisoned Lich King (Ner’zul) to see the gradual takeover of Northrend.
maybe Anub’arak could be featured in this campaign as well, as the antagonist to Kel’thuzad at first, ending up ultimately defeated after trying to defy the Scourge and hinder its plans, only for his whole kingdom to meet its tragic end at the hands of Kel’thuzad’s genius. i’m pretty sure i am not the only person who would like to see Azjol Nerub in its glorydays, and play a campaign where the main objective is to slowly defeat the Nerubians through sheer attrition, where at first the Nerubians actually have the upper hand, but slowly gets whittled down as more and more of them die and get raised as servants of the Scourge - ultimately climaxing in Anub’arak himself being defeated and raised as one of the most powerful servants of Ner’zul. mix in some cult of the damned elements to Kel’thuzad’s campaign there, and show us how the cult came into existence before it just ‘randomly’ pops up in Lordaeron as antagonists to Arthas’s storyline… now i know this idea would be a slight retcon to the story of Kel’thuzad, as Anub’arak was in fact already undead when Kel’thuzad showed up in Northrend (which was in current lore the Lich King’s doing) acting as his guide around the citadel of Naxxramas, but that is WoW/Book lore anyway, so i don’t think it would do much harm? if it really ends up being that lore breaking, the actual lich king could start out as the protagonist of the campaign and be the one who destroys the Nerubian empire, and THEN have Kel’thuzad show up just after.
Naga campaign could be centered around their awakening and early invasion days in Kalimdoor, just after Illidan was exiled by his brother Malfurion, or it could be centered around Illidan’s defeat at the hands of Arthas, when they had to flee from the continent of Northrend to establish themselves elsewhere. protagonist of this campaign could be the obvious Lady Vashj and perhaps add in a new face like a Myrmidon or even a Murloc/Mor’gul hero to accompany Vashj (we have to get creative here, since there really isn’t any other Naga heroes to accompany the Sea Witch) and Blood elves at this point would only slow down the Nagas, with them being landwalkers and all that (which is less than ideal in a retreat situation).
now this is of course far down the line, and if my ideas somehow completely ruins some of the original storylines then scrap them and come up with something else that fits the narrative a lot better.
im curious if any of you guys got some ideas which races could get a new campaign and which heroes/villains could be the ideal anta/protagonists of the storyline of said campaign.
i’m just trying to be creative here, as i am about 90% sure Blizzard is going to add DLC campaigns to the established ROC/TFT campaigns we all know and love, while also trying to remain faithful to that storyline.
i look forward to some input and/or critique on your end. but please ravage me gently if you must ravage me kappa.
