Possible Campaign DLC's?

Hear me out here, please.
i do not want the original campaign messed with, the story should remain true to the original warcraft 3 ROC/TFT story

However, i’ve started to ponder the possibility of adding Naga, Demon and Drenai themed campaigns that could take place before, in between and post-the original storyline, along with perhaps some of the original 4 races (Human, Orc, Undead, Night Elf) getting new campaigns that explain how certain characters became who they are and where they are in the current WC3 storyline.

For example, the Demon themed campaign could be all about the invasion of the Eastern Kingdoms, with Tichondrius, Mannoroth and even Archimonde as the main protagonists of that campaign storyline, perhaps even adding in Balnazzar, Dethoroc and Varimathras to an extent - this would be taking place after the original Undead campaign (from ROC) so that we could get a better insight on the devastation that befell the various human cities of Lordaeron and Dalaran after the Legion was unleashed on the world.

Kel’thuzad could have a mini campaign about his story from human mage to exile to necromancer, starting somewhere in Eastern Kingdoms and then traveling to Northrend at the behest of the then-imprisoned Lich King (Ner’zul) to see the gradual takeover of Northrend.
maybe Anub’arak could be featured in this campaign as well, as the antagonist to Kel’thuzad at first, ending up ultimately defeated after trying to defy the Scourge and hinder its plans, only for his whole kingdom to meet its tragic end at the hands of Kel’thuzad’s genius. i’m pretty sure i am not the only person who would like to see Azjol Nerub in its glorydays, and play a campaign where the main objective is to slowly defeat the Nerubians through sheer attrition, where at first the Nerubians actually have the upper hand, but slowly gets whittled down as more and more of them die and get raised as servants of the Scourge - ultimately climaxing in Anub’arak himself being defeated and raised as one of the most powerful servants of Ner’zul. mix in some cult of the damned elements to Kel’thuzad’s campaign there, and show us how the cult came into existence before it just ‘randomly’ pops up in Lordaeron as antagonists to Arthas’s storyline… now i know this idea would be a slight retcon to the story of Kel’thuzad, as Anub’arak was in fact already undead when Kel’thuzad showed up in Northrend (which was in current lore the Lich King’s doing) acting as his guide around the citadel of Naxxramas, but that is WoW/Book lore anyway, so i don’t think it would do much harm? if it really ends up being that lore breaking, the actual lich king could start out as the protagonist of the campaign and be the one who destroys the Nerubian empire, and THEN have Kel’thuzad show up just after.

Naga campaign could be centered around their awakening and early invasion days in Kalimdoor, just after Illidan was exiled by his brother Malfurion, or it could be centered around Illidan’s defeat at the hands of Arthas, when they had to flee from the continent of Northrend to establish themselves elsewhere. protagonist of this campaign could be the obvious Lady Vashj and perhaps add in a new face like a Myrmidon or even a Murloc/Mor’gul hero to accompany Vashj (we have to get creative here, since there really isn’t any other Naga heroes to accompany the Sea Witch) and Blood elves at this point would only slow down the Nagas, with them being landwalkers and all that (which is less than ideal in a retreat situation).

now this is of course far down the line, and if my ideas somehow completely ruins some of the original storylines then scrap them and come up with something else that fits the narrative a lot better.

im curious if any of you guys got some ideas which races could get a new campaign and which heroes/villains could be the ideal anta/protagonists of the storyline of said campaign.
i’m just trying to be creative here, as i am about 90% sure Blizzard is going to add DLC campaigns to the established ROC/TFT campaigns we all know and love, while also trying to remain faithful to that storyline.

i look forward to some input and/or critique on your end. but please ravage me gently if you must ravage me kappa.

minute 38:30 to 40:30

they are being intentionally vague on that question though :stuck_out_tongue:
blizzard have always been very secretive when it comes to their future DLC plans
its good to see that they do indeed seem to be planning something down the line, once the original storyline is dealt with and done, ready for shipping.
again, i feel like i must stress that i don’t want the original story of WC3 ROC/TFT changed, but i do want to see some new storylines that adds on to the existing ones, something like the ideas i came up with, i think a kel’thuzad, demon and naga campaign, in particular, would be really cool… ever since i was a child i always wondered what happened in Northrend after Arthas took up the crown of domination and sat on the throne of Icecrown, in regards to the forces of Kael and Vashj, not to mention Anub’arak.

I hope it will be DLC wc3 frozen throne finish his history so thats it

hmm not sure i understand what you mean there, could you rephrase that, please?

You are asking for wc4 dude.

My honest opinion about this is that we would never get a fully fledge campaign, with, you know, 30 maps or so, and a long story.
But I think small campaigns, with 5~8 maps, considerably less work, are probably on the menu after they finish the game.

well, i suppose so… but then again, not really. otherwise WC4 would have to jump all over the timeline, instead of simply adding on to what is already established.

i imagine it would be quite confusing to go from (going by my examples) Kel’thuzad’s and Legion’s storylines, and jump a whole expansion ahead to revisit the Nagas/Blood elves in Northrend (basically skipping all of TFT)
my suggestion is suppose to be more streamlined and interconnect with the established storyline to a point where it makes sense for A and B to happen to C, if that makes sense.

We’ll probably get bigger campaigns from mod authors.

Thats the way.

A reforged game NEED:

Complete new graphics, gameplay and optimizatiob
The new graphics are dissapoint
Wc3 is still using single coreee!?!???!
The gameplay feel really bad, need to be like sc2. The movement is so much better just go and test it.

The cutscenes, campaning are unnecessary you already play it and a lot of people too, so nothing new and important

i suppose they’ll be working on the polish of that aspect of the AI, because you’re right in that the AI is very clunky when it comes to unit pathing (running back and forth because the AI changes its mind on the ‘quickest path’ from one moment to another)

Grubby did ask them about that too, if i am not mistaken, and they said they’d be working on it.

edit: i don’t see how you can say that “nothing new” would be added, going by my examples, we would know the outcome of the campaigns (nagas being the one exception) but we would still get to see how he (kel’thuzad) went about it in an interesting way. we all know he eventually becomes a lich, but none of us have seen how he actually became a necromancer and what he had to do to reach that point (well we got book fluff, but that’s it) how the cult of the damned was formed and why would be a nice storyline to follow, even if we know his fate from the beginning.

What a funny and clueless post. You are alienating both exclusively-melee and exclusively-campaign players!

  1. Melee players would never agree to removing body-blocking and improve pathing.
  2. Campaign players feel like playing the campaign.

Well this is WC3 reforged not wc4, so thing like history is only a plus, the gameplay and graphics is the core.

Which one is it?

@JaggSauce - I think a lot of your ideas are too big for a DLC. I too would like a new Campaign too, but I think they should stick to the 4 main races, and possibly add just 1 new race like Naga or maybe BurningLegion

I wrote my ideas for DLC in this post here —> https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/warcraft3/t/ideas-for-reforged-expansion-dlcs/

One of the biggest things I’d like to see is WC1 and 2 stories reimagined as WC3 Campaigns, since they aren’t getting a remaster themselves it would be nice to have high quality modern version of them playable.

It aint coming my dudes, its been 100% confirmed extra content isn’t being added.

don’t grow wishes to tall.

I’d love to see more Campaigns, DLC stories ! Fingers crossed!

it hasn’t been “100% confirmed” though. its just that on release all we will get is what is already in classic WC3 ROC/TFT, they openly said they would add new side missions, campaign chapters etc. at a later time, should players ask for it.
they are currently focusing on getting the game working on a basic level, getting rid of bugs, fixing textures, terrain detailing etc. etc. all the advanced stuff is probably coming later.
it would be silly of them not to add more onto the game after its release, when they got more time on their hands.
