Polish Dubbing is Butchered. What about the others?

Hello Guys

I was very excited about WC3 R, but when i just jump into campaign, i did noticed that something is wrong. Polish dubbing for some reasons was changed, quotes were silly and annoying, most of the units sounds like taken out from cartoon show. I managed to survive just till 2nd mission of Humans Campaign, and seriously im afraid to continue, i just don’t want to ruin my ears and good memories with this kind of joke. I wonder how does the situation looks like in other than english languages. Did you also noticed changes or everything is “just fine” like it was ?? I’m aware that this is minor problem in compare with whole game that was released with lots of mistakes and wrong decisions.

Yes! The new Polish dubbing is quite bad in general, but becomes a travesty when compared to the old one.

The classic Warcraft 3 Polish dubbing was a masterpiece. It is very rare for a translation to hold up to the original, but in that case, I would say it even surpassed the English version. The Polish actors did an amazing job in Classic, really putting heart into most of the lines. And the texts themselves were also very good, lots of fragments cleverly changed to reference Polish culture and media. This really helped create an amazing experience.

By comparison, the new dubbing is bland and forced. Most voices are either terribly over-acted or have hardly any emotion at all. New translations are mostly painfully literal and show little understanding of the source material. It’s hard not to cringe. The jokes and references don’t hold up. The spark is gone. This is a shame.

Now, if there was an option to use the old VOs, all would be good. But no. The new version is forced down our throats as an “upgrade”. Thanks a lot! I think I’ll stick to playing the old client offline. Good thing I archived it before downloading the new “patch”.

Totally agree with you. All the fun from Polish dubbing was removed and replace with some childish kind of humor. All of the quotes that contain a second subtext were replaced… I’m big fun of polish dubbings in all of the game, some are bad, some are good, but WC3 dubbing was an example to follow. I always wished for polish dubbs for WoW, but now i’d rather don’t ask for it, cause i know after Reforge how it will be done.

I’ve been listening to old and new dubbing and both of them sounds really good.

Jacek Kopczyński sounds still good and tbh same. And be happy for the fact that you still got dubbing and game translated to your language. We in Czech Republic dont have it anymore.

Actually polish dubbing is not the worst thing in reforged. Old one was a masterpiece and one of best polish dubbings in games ever, newer one is worse, but still not very bad. Anyway this is smallest thing about reforged flaws. Bugs, limitations, not clear visuals, illegilbe health bars in some colours and many more - this is way more serious problem than dubbing. New dubbing is acceptable, but what blizzard has done with reforged - its not acceptable in any way.

Yeah, I’d say mr. Kopczyński did a fine job this time as well.

Unfortunately, most of the other voices don’t measure up. The new dubbing would probably be passable to someone who hasn’t played Classic W3 to death, but compared to the old version, it’s just so weak and uninspired.

I guess that Arthas voice is fine just because the same person is dubbing it, but when i just heared other units i was terrified. Like Kirys said, dubbs sounds blend and forced/over-acted. I don’t find the same pleasure from playing WC3 Reforged like i had in Classic one.

I can confirm that they have the same problem with french voice. New french voice are sad, without any live. Almost all characters lost theirs personality. It’s sad to click on a peon to listen almost normal human voice.

Maybe it isn’t that bad, but what was the problem to just copy paste the old VOs to the remastered version. Where is the point to record everything again if the old one are perfect ? The only reason for this might be wish to record VOs in higher quality, but why did they’ve changed quotes ?? I wouldn’t care that much about voice acting if the quotes were the same…

I think its because old wc3 dubbing was made by completely different studio and people. Wc3 had a polish publisher (cd projekt) back in 2002, and now its just activision blizzard. They wanted to make their own version i suppose. Also i heard that we will be able to change to old dubbing… but blizzard lied about that too. Basically reforged is maybe 10% of what it could be… if they dont care about remake at all, why they would care to make good dubbing?

I am heavily disappointed by this remake. Not even dubbing, but remake in general. It could be a great remaster of a legendary game, but it looks like fan made remaster created by 2 or 3 mediocre talented people. Come on, we’re in 2020 and blizzard has more money than we can ever imagine, but still they are unable to make a worthy remaster. Cutscenes looks like those from 2002 year, visuals 2010 max, units are clunky, some of them ugly, undead base is too shiny and sometimes hard to tell what building is what…

I really believe that those are way serious problems than dubbing. I regret those 30 euro all the time. Even if dubbing was heavenly good, it wouldnt save this pile of garbage. 1.1 on metacritic says it all how people are disappointed with this.

I feel exactly the same… Reforge is just a disappointment for all of thoes that love the original one. We all expected refreshed graphic and maybe some extra content, but we get poorly made copy with lots of issues.

Yeah. I am in love with wc3 since i got my first PC (2003), finished campaign 20 times, played a lot of custom maps, a lot of dota, a lot of ladder, also tried to make my own maps with this great world editor. For me wc3 is one of the best games ever made together with Diablo 2.

After playing reforged for few hours, i feel like slapped in the face and dubbing is not the worst thing really. Btw also they changed text lines, i played some of the campaign and i noticed many changes in text. It means the same, but words are changed. Idk why they did it. Wc3 was perfectly translated to polish (if i didnt know blizz made it, i would think its polish game like The Witcher) and i have no idea why they changed certain sentences and words in reforged.

Also they didnt leave names like Doomhammer or Hellscream as original, but they also translated them, which makes funny sounding names in polish and the atmoshphere is not there anymore.

That’s bad mate… I wonder which else dubbs were changed to worse…

German dubbing also a big joke, GameStar allready pointed that out.

I do understand that this is just minor problem in the big ocean of issues, but like they are saying “The first impression is the most important”. Right after i finished 2nd mission of Humans Campaign i just turned off game i ask myself, “Is this what i paid for ?”.

Sure, the poor quality of the new dubbing is just one of many issues in Reforged, but I feel it is important to make it clear that Polish customers are not satisfied with the translation.

All the other problems have already been pointed out since they are universal for all players. The Polish dubbing however affects just the Polish player base and since the Polish Blizz forums are mostly a ghost town, we should make the issue known here. The chance that Blizz will take notice is still slim anyway, but that’s still better than no chance at all

Spanish and Russian dubs have caused the same reaction as the Polish.

In my opinion, I believe the new French version is better in term of fidelity to the current French terminology in the Warcraft licence (They haven’t f***ed that up at least). But I get why people think the new VO is bad.
