I watched grubby latest YouTube video about Beta Leak and new skins, i watched in game video… i liked the models and skins but really i cannot understand how one footman = a barracks in size !!!
i wrote before about that, and whatever the game play go through i believe that some symmetry and balance should be added to make this work completely awesome…
The models have to be around the same size as the originals to avoid strange clipping and increased hit boxes. I guess you could argue that they could make the buildings taller but perhaps it wouldn’t fit the world of Warcraft theme. If you see the heroes of the storm Alterac map the heroes are quite huge compared to the buildings themselves.
the current buildings are lacking the ground texture patch that normally surrounds them (at least for human), and they are also lacking shadows
these leaks are obviously not finished, but I do think there are problems with some of the coloring. the human altar is too dark/grey, mountain king is too dark and lacks his skullcap, the arcane vault and arcane sanctum are too round, the goldmines merccamps and fountains don’t fit in properly with the environment for some reason they all just look weird, taurens totem/weapon is still too big and with bloodlust its ridiculous
Like casual is saying, if the buildings were way bigger, it would be a great disservice to the game. The unit models would have to be tiny and no one would be able to see the detail that has gone into them.
Although the scale is not realistic, it creates a much better aesthetic because you can see both the unit details and the building details.
For gameplay reasons. It is the same reason in StarCraft II that a Battlecruiser, which is meant to be the size of a large village and hold thousands of troops, is only slightly bigger than Viking which is a 1 man piloted transforming fighter plane.
Having most of the play field taken up by a few huge buildings kinds of defeats the purpose of microing armies.
may be i am not agree , if you played Battle for middle earth 2 game and still following the fan mods and saw all the details improvements … they succeed to make good balance in sizes…
i know that WC3 concept is different , but they can do that a little so they won’t affect all these issues you talked about
ok , and the ratio between zelots and gateways also very good for me… thats what i am talking about here in WC world … its different… most units here are small in real… so it will be better if we just make a little different, the re-scale which won’t effect the micro playing
